Well, I guess we better talk about Jeb Bush.

I dunno, if he keeps his head down and lets the various wingnuts each have their glorious week of leading-in-the-polls before self-destructing, he could easily grasp a Romney-style defeat.

So how’s the Schiavo thing going to play?

Not at all, unless an opponent brings it up. It’s the kind of thing people remember, but only when reminded.

Ha! I’m guessing if he runs he’ll be aiming for something a bit better than that.

And trying to be Mr. “I Love Immigrants!” isn’t going to get him enough (I) votes to offset what he would lose from the (R) base.

But, if we’re talkin’ about a Romney-style defeat, there ain’t nuttin’ better or more honorable (as distinct from something more sellable) that Jeb could aim at, or, much more importantly, would aim at, as a Pub, therefore he won’t, the Pubslave.

If he decides to run, I hope he uses his real name, John.
President Jeb makes me think he’ll want to install a CE-ment pond out back for Ellie’s critters.

Yeah, but just think of all the fun times he’d have hostin’ furrin dignitaries in the fancy-eatin’-room!

Not sure about that. If not for “47%” and alienating the Hispanic community Romney might very well have won the last election.

We already had a President Dwight.

That little Bush has got his own cement pond,
That little Bush, he is a millionaire!

I don’t think so. I think this year’s crop of likely wingnut candidates is much stronger than 2012’s. Ted Cruz, Rand Paul, Scott Walker, Paul Ryan, Mike Huckabee, and Rick Santorum post-2012, are, as a group, much more formidable from a GOP primary standpoint than Donald Trump, Sarah Palin, Michele Bachmann, Rick Perry, Herman Cain, Newt Gingrich, and pre-2012 Rick Santorum. Other than Perry, the 2012 group was a bunch of has-beens and never-wases. I think it may be too late to construct an Establishment candidate who can win. Including Jeb.

But, even the Pubs must understand that not one of those could win the general election if he had Jesus Christ for a running mate and the Dems were running a rotting dog carcass/small pool of varnish ticket.

Ted Cruz, Rand Paul, Scott Walker, Paul Ryan, Mike Huckabee, and Rick Santorum, Donald Trump, Sarah Palin, Michele Bachmann, Rick Perry, Herman Cain, Newt Gingrich, and Rick Santorum.

each one of these men (and two women) have or have had a faithful following of voters which will more than likely swing their vote toward GOP candidate Jeb Bush making him the winner for POTUS in January 2017.

You are ignoring the significant Boolean intersection between those followings. Add 'em all up and you still don’t have enough votes to beat a rotting dog carcass.

I think for a lot of low-information voters, the independents who often swing elections in many cases, the name “Bush” is still spelled “Shit” thanks to Dubya’s “brilliant” presidency. So I don’t think Jeb has as much of a chance as Rick Santorum.

Jeb Bush does not have as much of a chance as the thing for which “Santorum” was named.

Not if Jeb keeps talking nice about immigrants. That faithful following of voters will do everything thing they can to keep him from getting anywhere near the GOP nomination.

Tru dat. But I really do think that GOP primary voters look at their choices, and unconsciously divide them between those that they can see semi-convincingly playing a President on TV, and those they can’t see doing that. And they pick the one they like best from the former group.

In 2012, Romney benefited from the fact that even a GOP partisan couldn’t really see any of the non-Romneys playing a President on TV. I don’t think they’ll have that problem with most of the likely GOP candidates this time. So there will be plenty of choices that clear the play-a-President-on-TV threshold that they will like a whole lot better than Jeb.

I also think that (a) Jeb doesn’t want the job that badly, and (b) he’s out of touch with the GOP primary electorate, having not run for office since 2002.

And this. Rick Perry’s hopes got killed in the 2012 cycle by words that didn’t go nearly as far as what Jeb said the other day.

I think they need to expand the constitution rules to stop family members from running after you. At least a few generations. 2 terms, have to be born here, and children can’t follow their parents.

Looks like we stopped talking about Jeb Bush for president five days ago, but his name will come up again … I bet you (smile)

Indeed, Republicans just can’t stop talking about Jeb Bush:
