…to be Nielsen drones for a week later this month. So, what would you all like me to watch?
I dunno. It might be fun to really mess with their heads, though, and keep the TV tuned to The Weather Channel or the All-Surgery All the Time Channel all week.
Please watch Junk Yard Wars.
Also, if you have the time, Sex in the City and The Howard Stern Show, provided you have the time.
I don’t know if that only applies to the main networks like ABC, NBC, Fox, etc. But if it doesn’t…
I think they also have Nielsens for cable.
Watch “That’s My Bush!” on Comedy Central. That show cracks me up.
HobbesHoneys… Oh wait. That’s “The Invisible Man” and “Farscape”, Friday nights on Sci-Fi.
I second Junkyard Wars on The Learning Channel. I believe it airs Monday from 8:00PM to 9:00PM EST.
I also like The Daily Show with Jon Stewart on Comedy Central. It airs Monday through Friday at 11:00PM EST.
They have a 4th of July special on Wednesday night…the Long Brothers (U.S.) vs. the Megalomaniacs (U.K.)…building a car crusher. Sha-weeeet
mrs beagledave and I were a Nielson family a few months back. You keep a diary in a little booklet…so it’s basically the honor system, not what your t.v. is tuned to.
Another vote for Farscape. Please. Pretty please?
I, too, say Farscape. And the Invisible Man. Friday, I’m in love…
I already watch Farscape, so that’s doable.
beagledave: Do you have to watch in real time? I timeshift a lot, 'cause the only chance I have to watch anything is on weekends.
I’d love to be a Nielsen family.
“Why is your journal blank for this week?” “Because we didn’t watch any TV.”
I watch football during the fall, and pop in the occasional movie on VHS. But other than that, the TV sits around and gathers a lot of dust. In the summer, I’d rather be outdoors; in the winter, I’d hate for TV to take away from my posting time.
The 3am farm report and any infomercial in which Ron Popiel is hawking his latest “invention”.
Ah, I haven’t been a ratings family since I was a teenager. I felt guilty the night I went skiing (I didn’t want ratings to drop on my favourite shows!) so I filled the shows I would have watched in anyway.
I would say to catch Buffy and Angel, but its just reruns now. I don’t watch much tv, so everything else could get cancelled without breaking my heart.
beagledave, I heard that they went from the diary system to a device on your tv. No?
please do NOT watch any of that justice/police crap on Discovery Channel. Geez, ya go to Germany for a few years and when ya come back, all the cool science and nature programs are gone, replaced by Justice Files and some dumb crap about life in Las Vegas.
What’s up with THAT, YO!!!
A couple of years ago, I got a notice in the mail. Along with a dollar. I respond well to free money. I think I had to call them and say, “Sure, I’ll do it,” before they sent the book itself. My mom was a bit jealous. Though not like the time I got exit-polled in 1996. g
I already had vacation plans, though, so I asked should I even bother, since I’d only be home for two days out of the week, and the woman said yes. I guess that makes sense. Lots of people go on vacation during the summer.
I didn’t think to fill it with all sorts of insane stuff. I guess I could have, but I felt I should be honest. These are the Neilsen Gods I’d have been tempting, after all. Not a good idea! But they must think I watch WAY less TV than I do.
JUNKYARD WARS!!! You ***MUST ***watch it, and watch it again when they replay it in the middle of the night. Go ahead and watch robotica while you’re at it. And if it counts for reruns as well, make sure you watch Macgyver on WGN and CHiPs on TBS. And watch Seven Days on UPN!
Well we did our Nielson shtick in March…so unless it’s changed since then…
They first call you up to see if you’re willing to do it…and to ask (if you have cable) who your local cable provider is. The journal they send you corresponds to shows that your cable service provides.
Oh yeah! I saw the previews for that. Do you remember what time it is on tonight?
Hanofer, if you have the stomach for it could you also squeeze in Emergency: Life in the ER– also on The Learning Channel? I’m not sure when it comes on (although it seems to be on pretty often).
