It was in kind of an odd spot - I broke it because I dropped a CRT monitor on it, and because of where it was the doc at casualty said that there wasn’t really much that a cast could do, but a couple of pairs of socks would provide a bit of cushioning while it healed.
So, in short, stay off it.
With that said, a friend who broke a bone lower down in her foot was given a 12-16 week healing period. I think that she said it was due to a lower bloodflow in that area or some such.
