I had a similar experience as the OP. Except that when I went to turn off the ringer, I accidentally turned on the speaker phone. Middle of a meeting, and my pants are saying, “Hello? Are you there? Hello?”
Good times.
I was in a hospital orientation and forgot I’d put my cell phone in my pants pocket. I also forgot I’d changed the ring tone on it just the previous day.
The CEO was giving a talk about some BS or another (to our VERY small group) and some asshole’s cell phone started to ring. Man, why doesn’t that complete IDIOT turn their phone off?? Gah! Everyone looked around but soon they were all looking at me, CEO included.
I wanted to crawl under a rock so bad.
