We're being invaded! Help! (Bug problem)

Okay, it started off with ladybugs. Ladybugs I can deal with, they’re kind of pretty and I know they’re harmless. Granted, I still don’t like to find 4-5 ladybugs a DAY in my house, but better those than centipedes or roaches.

So we’ve tapered off on the ladybugs, but developed a new problem…ants. Big ants. Yucky ants. Luckily, the cats seem to be great at scoping them out and letting us know where they are, but I found one crawling on my bedside table two days ago, which means they’ve migrated upstairs.

And the last straw this morning…I got out of bed to find a roly-poly in my HAIR  . Again, I know they’re harmless like ladybugs, but I still don’t want them in my HAIR OR IN MY BED.

Our house is clean - we have one room that’s cluttered, but it’s still clean. I don’t think we’re attracting bugs from being messy, I think it’s just because of the weather warming up and all of the rain we’ve had over the past couple of weeks. But this morning was it - I want these bugs out of my house, dead or alive.

We thought about bombing, but we have two indoor cats who would have nowhere to go, so that’s out. I’ve looked at a couple of solutions, but none seem pet safe. So - any suggestions on how to get these damn bugs out of my house without endangering my cats?

Thanks!

E.

Can’t you board the cats for 1 overnight while you bomb? Seems the easiest thing to do.

The Roly-Poly (or Pillbug) was lost… I doubt you’ll see another one. They hang out under logs, mostly.

The “ladybugs” were probably Asian Lady Beetles - You aren’t seeing them now, because they have gone back outside. If you don’t seal up any loose windows or other cracks, they will be back in the fall, to hibernate in corners until spring.

The ants are probably carpenter ants. Bombing doesn’t do much good. Your best bet is to find where they are nesting. Late at night, go around with a flashlight and check for activity around wet, woody areas - under sinks and around doorways are typical nesting sites. I think there is a bait that you can put right there for them, but you need to fix the source of the water. They are a realy good reason to not keep firewood stacked near your house…
