You’ve made a claim contrary to what several of us understand to be true based on years of information about sex trafficking that has been presented to us. Is it really that much to ask for you to explain why we have no idea what we’re talking about, since that’s what you’re contending?
O worry not, he’ll definitely do that.
Yeah, you’re probably right. My one regret is how you’re forced to read it.
Oh, wait a minute! You’re not, are you?
I haven’t had sex with professional sex workers either, so my ignorance is definitely on display. I have had occasion, however, in a medical capacity, to meet and converse with a few in the US over the years, probably a few more than let on, possibly many more than let on, and all of them seem ‘stuck’ for lack of a better word. I don’t know their stories as it is truly none of my business. I don’t have comparable experience with sex workers in Thailand so it is not possible for me to draw conclusions. What information I have been privy to here suggests it is pretty bad in the US, not to say it can’t be worse in Thailand, but I don’t know that it is.
And miss all the unintentional comedy? Not a chance, not a chance.
Is Pattaya where you normally go see your live nude lesbian sex shows? You invited readers to search your posts and I saw you frequently mention them so I’m wondering if that’s all part of the Pattaya experience that makes it #1.
Oh yeah, I am in no way denying that forced sex work is a problem here, too. In fact, my original post wasn’t Thai specific or anything. Siam Sam made some throw away comment about the posters here (incidentally, all female) getting their knickers in a twist over not getting how things are done “over here” (ie: Thailand). The OP posted a big ol’ list of places you can go to fuck hookers (woo hoo! so fun!) and then you had various posters talking about partaking. This was not specific to just Thailand, nor was my initial question.
While I doubt the girls at the legal brothels outside of Clark County in Nevada are as coerced as say, the “escorts” on the back of fliers on the ground on the Strip or the ladies who give “massages” in the dark strip mall shops, I have no doubt believing that there’s a whole mess of sex trafficking happening in the US, too. In fact, statistics say I’d be stupid to not think so.
But that brings us back to my original question. These men are boasting about having sex with sex workers all over the world-- in places known to have tremendous and serious trafficking problems (yes, that includes Las Vegas). I genuinely was curious what they do to ensure that they are minimizing the likelihood of - at best- adding money to the illegal sex trade and - at worst- raping or aiding the rape of a sex slave. Like I said, some girls are for sure in sex work because they like sex, but the nature of many of these illegal or, perhaps, extralegal establishments rather easily plays right into the hands of the illegal sex traffickers.
I agree with you that a significant percentage of sex workers worldwide probably operate under external duress of some kind or another. It might be due to addiction or usury or “encouragement” from an uncaring parent or spouse or some or, hell, even all of those things, and certainly none of those problems are exclusive to any one country. Unlike certain other posters, I don’t pretend to know for sure who it’s worse for where because it’s naturally hard as shit to get reliable information about that kind of thing, particularly in countries like Thailand that are riddled with hugely corrupt local officials who make a habit of limiting the power of press.
That said, I rather suspect these pressures are at their most forceful in areas where the third world meets the first world, because those are the places where prostitution commonly yields financial dividends far beyond what the average citizen can ever hope to achieve through legal means. It’s going to take some pretty solid cites to convince me that’s not an aggravating factor in Thailand. Certainly I’m going to need something a little better than “But the girls at my favorite blowjob bar always tell me they’re having lots of fun!”
Those shows must be awesome as often as he mentions them, I even skipped some*
*I also didn’t go back farther than 2009 for these and I didn’t duplicate any of yours.
I believe you mean no-holds-barred all-nude four-girl live-lesbian show. I hear that’s a really big thing there, can’t remember where I heard that though.
That sounds oddly familiar, now that you mention it. Now where have I heard about that… on Nova, maybe?
Absolutely! If there’s one thing that Neil deGrasse Tyson never shuts up about, it’s physics. But if we were to go to the next thing on the list, it’d definitely be no-holds-barred all-nude four-girl live-lesbian shows.
No, actually those are in Soi Cowboy in Bangkok. As mentioned in my OP, I don’t care for Pattaya.
Now back to your threadshit.
I don’t believe sex is just for mommies and daddies who love each other
I do believe Siam Sam is one of the posters (a group in which I don’t include myself) who make this message board worth reading.
There is too much variation and ambiguity to give easy answers. Many are forced to the “career” by financial pressure. The need might be laudable (support their children, or elderly parents) or not (supporting a lazy “boyfriend” or drug habit or shopping habit). In these cases, are you “exploiting” the girl by paying her for sex? She certainly wants you to!
Questions to ask include:
-
What portion of your total payment does the girl get? If it is less than (or often much less than) about 45%, the girl is not a free agent. In many venues it will be much more than that (perhaps 100% for freelancers in Pattaya or on Sukhumwit). In brothels in U.S. there are often hidden cameras or hidden microphones to detect money exchanges in the private rooms; I’ve never heard of such in Thailand. Anyway, even if the girl gets 100%, much of that may need to be paid to a creditor or lazy “boyfriend.”
-
Does the girl have right to refuse a customer? In many Bangkok massage parlors, the masseuses will be in two groups with very different base prices. The high-priced (sex-guaranteed) girls might be in debt to the parlor but, more often, choose that category to maximize earnings.
By becoming friends with, rather than customers of, such girls, one learns a bit. As just one example, even I was slightly shocked when one Pattaya girl told me she had left a particular Go-go bar because the owner required all the female employees to eat barbituates !
Not that it matters, but for what purpose?
Reduces inhibitions.
ETA: The girl told me “red pills.” From prior conversations I assumed, probably but not assuredly correctly, that this meant barbituates.
EETA: But it was the girl that mentioned “reducing inhibitions,” though I disremember the Thai phrase she used.
So basically you just ask them if they are a sex slave and if they say “no” then it’s all green lights
but if they really are then that’s okay because you are there to provide emotional support as a friend
brilliant
PS. still no cites? how surprising
Your comments are just too inane and too pretentious to even warrant a pitting. For one thing, the request for “cites” w/r personal experiences shows extreme confusion.
Her point isn’t that you present a cite that you asked a prostitute if she’s there voluntarily or not, she’s clearly referring to the previous claims that those of us not 100% ok with the thought of potentially raping a trafficked sex slave just don’t "get’ how things are in these places. We’re told to just Google it, but Googling confirms everything human rights groups have taught me about the situation over the years (like that according to Thailand’s Health System Research Institute, 40% of the sex workers in Thailand are children– or that, according to the DOJ, 41% of sex workers in the US are children as well). Sure, it’s better than it was, but it’s still really, horrifyingly bad.
I find it laughable that someone is suggesting that because we try to minimize our contributions to the illegal sex slave trade that we are somehow puritanical (sex isn’t just for mommies and daddies! heehee!).
