Were we really the last?

How many animals can everybody come up with that evolved after humans did?
Not counting animals that came into existence through our domestication and selective breeding…
Are there any?

Pokemon.

Are you asking about specific species, or just “types” of animals, such as bird, cat, dog, etc.? If you are asking about specific species, there are LOTS.

I think you would need to identify your timeframe. When, EXACTLY, did humans evolve?

Well, for the first specific examples, I’ll propose all the Galapogos tortoses (sp??? That doesn’t look right), finches, iguanas, etc.

The human skin mite. Before we evolved, they didn’t have a host. Ditto for all of the other parasites and pathogens adapted to us specifically.

Actually, I’ve read that every 1000 yrs. or so (the number is definitely wrong) a new species arises. And this seems to often happen very quickly due to some external influences.

At the same time, species often adapt very quickly, such as malaria-resistent mosquitoes, etc. I don’t exactly know when they are then considered to have evolved into a new species, but I suppose all life evolves to an extent all the time.

I’m not so sure we (or anything else) has stopped evolving.

In 10,000 years we’ll have gills, massive brains and built-in vending machines.

I agree with Steve-o. If you are asking about new types of animals, then I can’t think of any. But if you are talking about new species or new evolutionary features of a species, then there are lots. Don’t forget about non-animal life too (plants, bacteria, etc.)
