Were you effected by the Toyota subwoofer recall?

This recall extends beyond what I found online. Mom’s Toyota was bought in 2008 or maybe 07. She got a letter about the recall.

She took the car to the dealer this morning. No fix yet. All the dealer did was disconnect the subwoofer.

Can’t imagine why they haven’t figured out a fix. A piece of insulation that covers the frame seems like the most obvious solution.

Instead, all these cars get a second trip to the dealer when a fix is ready.

The problem with recall any recall is you have to engineer a fix, test the fix, write instructions for the fix, get new and improved parts designed and manufactured for the fix, catalog the new part in the inventory system, ship the new part to the parts distribution centers, and distribute a reasonable amount of said new parts to each dealer based on size.
Then you can actually preform the recall.
You can’t just drive down the street to the local auto parts store and ask for 52,000 sub woofer wiring harnesses.
