That’s what the psychics said at the end of the 19th century and beginning of the 20th. That’s what Rhine said. That’s what the UFOist said when I was a kid. We’re still waiting.
The famous experiment in weighing the soul is over a century old. Why do you think there has been any progress (as opposed to the creation of a deeper pile of bullstuff which you like to cite.)
Come on guys, you can quit now. Just repeating each other over and over. No debate because there is no evidence, no proof. You have offered only Karl Jansen’s work which I have countered. Must have done a good job of it since there was no discussion. You are full of fear, frightened to death (pun). I can’t explain it very well, not that you would really listen. Life is a great joy. I remember a spiritual friend of mine saying skeptics are not afraid of dying they are terrified of loving. Fearful that they will lose themselves in compassion for others not realizing they are others.
Not from you. That’s what everyone is complaining about.
Have you actually read this thread ? “Seriously irritated” is the tone I’m getting, not fear. Especially since there’s nothing to be afraid of.
Insulting and incoherent at the same time. And the people who are the most afraid of dying IMHO, are the ones who clutch desperately to their fictional afterlives.
We die. We go out like a smashed lightbulb, and our bodies rot. That’s all there is, no afterlife, no spirit, no soul, just spoiled meat. If we ever live forever ( well, for billions of years ), it’ll be by technology; not making up imaginary things like souls and gods.
Compared to the majority of versions of the afterlife, that IS looking at the bright side, as far as I’m concerned. I’d far rather cease to exist than end up in heaven or hell, and reincarnation is rather pointless, for example.
And the world is what is is. Reality is not required to be cheerful.
Ah, I see. So in fact, we’re not only cowards, we’re also idiots! Fantastic!
For someone apparently against personal attacks you seem to be bringing up this “you’re all actually just scared” thing a lot. Oh, except when you say “fear”, you use it to mean all those bad things that are in opposition to all the good things covered under “love”. Oh, except you’ve now gone back to using it to mean what most people would call fear.
You’re remarkably inconsistent for a person so certain. Could it be that the fear you attribute to others is just a projection of your own state? Worry that perhaps dedicating time, effort, and acceptance of mental truth towards something you can’t even defend, by your own admission? There’s a good reason to be scared. Not “Oh no! I might love people!”.
It is amazing what people can read into what I post.
You and others continue to voice your opinions and suppositions about what I believe and say yet you have no proof of any kind to back up your posts. Why would you continue to beat a dead horse, but from fear it will rise up and kick you.
Do you have any principles that you follow, any visions, any moral truths that are important enough for you to follow them even if they go against your desires.
What is a perfect example or a contradiction kids?
Ouch, he ran into that wall too. Yep, that is no evidence, no proof, only that it is evidence.
Handwaved.
It was a joke of a countering, and zero discussion.
Thanks to people that ignored the "spirits of the air cause disease” explanation we found real ways to stop cholera and making England (and the world) merry. To me that is that purest kind of joy.
As it is the joy demonstrating that I also brought a example that mystic explanations had very little to do with joy if others are dead or dying when the real causes are not investigated properly. And you thought it was only a silly example? There was no comment of that from you. Discussion? Only ignorance from you.
What kind of love is there when many of the would be subjects (in the case of what could really be the cause of NDE’s) of research are just avoiding being investigated because they “would be inconvenienced”? That love is narcissistic.
I see more compassion and love on researchers that give it all so both skeptics and believers can use and enjoy the results, as we can see, there are no thanks from the mystic side for all the good (and goods) they enjoy nowadays, like **Brian Ekers ** said, I’m really not feeling the love in this thread.
