"We've evolved to be creationists"

No no no! Science is dogma, it can’t be trusted, and here are some scientific studies proving it!

You know that I am always happy to see any evidence or proof you may have to back up your claim. I would truly like to see it.

I have said many times that science is a good thing. It is the scientists not following it that makes for bad things. There was a post earlier about scientific principles, and I thought they were good, but just not followed by some scientists who believe they know things without any real evidence. The very same is true for religion. Now as far as I know there is no proof whatsoever that the spiritual part of our lives is nonsense. I am willing to entertain any evidence or proof that near death experiences are not real. I realize I don’t know everything. The evidence I have shown on this thread does not come from me, it comes from qualified researchers working at qualified institutions with some of it published in qualified scientific journals.

So show me your proof and I will try to counter it as is done in any good debate.

Cognitive dissonance?

According to lekatt, science is faulty, made up, distorting, illogical, hypocritical, contradicted, closed, and confining. But he still thinks it’s a good thing.

You sure did a lot of work, sorry, I should have said scientists. Institutions like science, religion, government, do not really exist. Without their devotees they are nothing. It is people than do the deeds, not institutions.

Here I should have used the word “seems”, yes, it is true I make grammer, spelling, and meaning mistakes. But I am not on trial here. We are debating another subject, and I am waiting for proof.

Over here you just resorted to Handwaving arguments when I pointed at researched evidence, you are not sincere at all.

Besides, you are still not seeing contradictions even if they bite you all over.

lekatt, even your corrections are unconvincing.

I have acknowledged my less than perfectness, attacking me is not debating the issues.

I am waiting for some proof to backup the claims made by the opposition on the subject of spiritual things as they relate to creation.

To who? You? Now that’s really something to worry about.

It is a very old trick: attacking the messenger when the message is not liked.

Show me the proof, please.

I didn’t attack you. I attacked your ideas by showing them in contradiction. I’ve provided more than adequate support of my position.

lekatt’s accusing others of attacking the messenger? That’s rich! C’mon. That’s his forte: attacking scientists.

How can it be “attacking you” when one is in reality correcting your misstatements?

You still are handwaving, you are trying to avoid dealing with evidence that was brought to respond to your hijack, the reason why you remain insincere is because hadwaiving is your standard reply to evidence, why should one expect better from you if we deal with the original point?

I will wait until the personal statements stop, and we get back to the debate.
I am waiting for proof of your claims that spiritual experiences are nonsense.
Please show your proof, or acknowledge that you haven’t any.

Actually, since you are the one who interrupted this thread on biology with a statement that we are “spiritual” beings “remembering” having been spirits–while providing only personal anecdotes and no evidence whatsoever for your claim–the burden rests upon you to provide that evidence. The humor is simply a way for other posters to pass time waiting for you to explain why you hijacked this thread on biology with religious witnessing.

If you are now announcing that you are going to give up your hijack, I am sure that the posters who wished to discuss the original topic will thank you. If you wish to continue this hijack, you might want to do so with less petulance.

You know very well that I have provided evidence and studies to back up what I said. But I understand that it wouldn’t matter anyway.

The issue is not going away. ABC 20/20 will have a special on near death experiences in July. Fox news I hear has purchased a film on near death experiences. There are three prime time TV shows with spiritual themes. There is a regular show on one of the channels about psychic detectives. There hundreds of books and thousands of web sites on the subject. I don’t think it will take much longer for the breakthrough to occur, as happens with material such as this.

The research is there, and more coming, and I think you know that. But I wish you well and will answer only questions directed at me on this thread. You can continue your biology if you wish.

I know that you have provided endless reams of anecdotes, lied about what scientists have actually said, and generally engaged in bad faith and bad logic.

You have not provided a single citation to actual evidence from science that there is anything outside thephysical realm.

I say this as a person who deeply believes in the spiritual, but who has the honesty to recognize that science is simply not intended to examine that which is outside the physical or material realm.

No one ever went broke underestimating the gullibility of the American people.

(Shamelessly paraphrased from an inaccurate quotation of H.L. Mencken)

It’s called “exploiting the gullible”. There are similar shows and websites about UFOs, Bigfoot, innumerable religions large and small, the Healing Power of This and That, any number of get-rich-quick schemes, a huge variety of Jewish/Masonic/UN/Left Handed Buddhist conspiracies, alien landings/crashings/probings/abductings, and whatever weird fad diet is being hawked to the foolish this week.

No. What happens is that the True believers such as yourself say that you’ll have a breakthrough in just a little bit. Then a little bit more, and a little bit more. And in fifty or a hundred or thousand years, the breakthrough will still be just around the corner. And the gullible will still buy into it.
