*Whack* another *whack* hoax email is *whack* whacked on the head

Just replied to my father. He’s very well-meaning, and while very keen to use computers to their fullest, doesn’t fully understand the ways of the world online. He’d passed on an email, one of those “carjack warning” ones, supposedly released by a senior policeman. Surprise surprise, it’s a variant of one that’s on Snopes in various version.

To his credit, he welcomed the debunking. However, he’d received it from someone at his head office, who had sent it to a 3,000-strong list. :smack: (And it’s a government deparment. The government’s own recently-launched ‘get safe online’ website has a link to Hoaxbusters, where the same email is listed :wally )
