What 1980s movie had a 'Panic Pete' toy in it?

Panic Pete

I remember a couple of guys talking, and one is absent-mindedly holding/rolling a ‘Panic Pete’ in his hand. At the end of the conversation or argument, the guy squeezes the toy. I thought it was hilarious, the way it happened. But I have no idea what the film was. Probably science fiction or horror at the time. Any ideas?

Hm. I’d have to see the scene. Good news, it’s on TV this weekend. Bad news, Mrs. L.A. won’t want to watch it.

Thanks. I thought that might be it, but the shot that I remember of Panic Pete being squeezed was a closer one on the toy. And ISTR it only being squeezed once, as sort of a punctuation at the end of the scene.

Is the toy part of a continuity error? Before he raises his arm to take a drink the toy looks about 6" in from the edge. The camera changes position and when his arm comes down the toy is about a foot in. Maybe.

I seem to remember that one but I think it was an episode of a show.

FWIW, this was the first time I had ever seen a ‘Panic Pete’ toy, and didn’t know that was the name of it until I ordered one last week.
