Well, he seems to be ranting about how evil the American government and companies are and skipping the fact that Canada is the one giving them the data freely.
He goes on to say he is glad his fiance is now a Canadian citizen to prove that there is something wrong in the US. I don’t get it: Americans = Evil (see Scott’s reasons below), Canadians = Incompetent boobs for giving away private, sensitive information to evil people? Me, I’d prefer to be evil. At least I’d have a clue.
Um, from where I’m sitting he’s telling why he’s worried about the US government, military-industrial complex, etc., as reasons why the Canadian government should not contract out census taking to LM. In other words, he’s addressing the OP.
Yeah. Duh. Because of the overwhelming denseness in replies to this thread, I had to restate why I find the possibility described in the OP cause for concern several different times in several different ways… but this only served as fodder for certain tardos to jump on me for being “paranoid” and that I had no argument to begin with.
When I get frustrated that no one is seeing the obvious point, I tend to come off as shrill and hysterical. Whoopdeeshit, it’s a character defect I’m working on.

Raw data is practically an international commodity - it transcends borders, and is valued like yesterday’s news - something which, if sliced and diced enough, may yield useful info, but not likely.
And, if I wanted to locate anglo-canadian, male homosexuals living in Quebec, with a distrust of American military/intelligence organizations - I really wouldn’t need to question ever single Canadian to find them, now would I?
