What actor's been action figured the most?

John Holmes.

It’s kind of astonishing there are no The Adventures of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert action figures, isn’t it?

watsonwil, SNL did a fake ad years ago for Philadelphia action figures, one of which featured Tom Hanks in his Navy uniform.

'twas that very page which made me thinl there wasn’t one. But you are right he is in the catalogue picture even if not in the figure images. Worth a look further …

(b.t.w. I first tried finding Patrick Stewert figures, which is why I checked for Dune figures, I wasn’t out googling to try and prove you wrong or anything like that  )

As a matter of fact…

Darn, hadn’t noticed Fiver’s post.

It seems to me that relatively big-name actors like Ian McKellan or Patrick Stewart are the wrong end of the spectrum to be considering. The actor with the greatest number of “action figures” to his or her name is likely to be somebody who works extensively in sci-fi/fantasy film and television, but who isn’t generally associated with leading-actor status or any one specific role. Look for actors who aren’t afraid to work while covered with latex prosthetics; other than the heroes and villains of a film or series, action figures tend to feature the most memorable and/or physically distinctive supporting characters. Therefore, my offhand nomination for King of the Action Figures:

Warwick Davis, whose various action figure incarnations include the Leprechaun, Prof. Flitwick from Harry Potter, Willow, the one Ewok from Return of the Jedi (and I think he had a couple other roles in the more recent **Star Wars ** films, all of which probably have their corresponding action figures by now)…and I expect there’s a Marvin figure for Hitch-hiker’s Guide to the Galaxy too. So that’s five to seven right there.

And, despite my earlier analysis, I note that he did in fact portray the titular role in two of the above movies that inspired a corresponding action figure. But I think in general, it’s going to be the character actors, the one-shot villains and memorable guest appearances–your Ted Cassidys, your Jeffrey Combses, your Ron Perlmans–that tend to garner the most action figures per actor.

In that case I’d keep my eye on Lawrence Makoare, who played Lurtz, Gothmog, and the Witch King in the Lord of the Rings trilogy alone. Granted he doesn’t have many other credits, but his career is still young.

Oh no you don’t. From the OP:

(If I get shot down for Hugo Weaving as Rex then you do to. ;))

Arnies found
Last Action Hero
Commando
Mr Freeze

Lots of Terminator and Governators arround as well.

I’m surprised nobody has mentioned Hugh Jackman yet:

X-Men Wolverine
X-Men Logan (street clothes Wolverine)
X-Men: X2 Super-Poseable Wolverine
X-Men: X2 Claw Strike Wolverine with Scaffolding
X-Men: X2 13" Deluxe Wolverine
12" Hugh Jackman Marvel Wolverine
X-Men: X2 Motorized Berserker Wolverine
X2 Battle Action Wolverine
X-Men: X2 Electronic XJet With Wolverine
Van Helsing 12" figure
Van Helsing 12" Deluxe Series 2 figure
Van Helsing 5" Basic figure
Van Helsing figure with playset
Van Helsing figure with spinning blades
Van Helsing 12" Jakks Pacific figure
Van Helsing 1/4 scale figure
… and probably more that I’m too lazy to look up.

And that’s not even counting all the non-movie Wolverine action figures who bear an uncanny resembalance to Mr. Jackman, such as Marvel Ultimate Wolverine.

If this doesn’t earn me geek creds, nothing will…

Fair enough, I guess…although the OP’s own example left this point rather ambiguous. Does the Spider-Man action figure from the movie count as a representation of Tobey MacGuire, then? In pretty much all the ones I saw on sale at Target, the mask was not removable. So it’s actually impossible in principle to identify Tobey MacGuire as the actor from a masked action figure, as the OP would seem to require.

My interpretation of the rules was that a costumed actor would get the credit for a role which the action figure directly represents (for example, “Tobey MacGuire’s depiction of the movie Spider-Man,” even if the actor in the outfit cannot be directly identified from the action figure in question. A voice actor, on the other hand, doesn’t count because the action figure doesn’t physically represent any element of his role–which also disqualifies exclusively the voice work for animated or CG characters.

By these rules, Peter Mayhew would get a point for Chewbacca, even though he isn’t recognizable in costume; ditto for Kenny Baker as R2-D2; credit for TWIKI from the Buck Rogers TV show would go to Felix Silla rather than Mel Blanc; and Darth Vader would count toward David Prowse rather than James Earl Jones.

(You’ll have to decide for yourselves whether to parcel out any remaining credit to Sebastian Shaw or Hayden Christensen; this is a matter for your conscience to meditate on in private. I can’t live your whole life for you.)

*NOTE TO PURCHASER: Your SDMB Cafe Society Action Post with Kung Fu Grip comes equipped with a spring-loaded rocket adverb that may present a choking hazard. Not recommended for children under 3.

rjung, reread the OP - only 1 figure per character played. So Jackman gets 2.

Anyone else notice there aren’t any women listed so far? The best I’ve come up with is Jessica Alba (Dark Angel and Sin City so far, and there will surely be one for Fantastic Four).

Majel Barret’s not a woman?

Dang, you mean I did all that work for nuthin’?

The Fantastic Four figures are already showing up, and don’t forget the action figure of Jessica Alba from Honey. She has a voice chip so when you press the button on her back, she says “I teach hip-hop down at the centa’!”

I doff my hat to you sir. The list with links for each…Impressive.

Wow!! Of course This is actually only two charecters. Chris Lee has more than that.

Oops - overlooked that post. Sorry, E-Sabbath.

Still - can anyone think of an actress who’s had more than three?

Just thought of another actor who might be up there - Mike Myers. Most of them are from the Austin Powers movies, though:

Austin Powers
Dr. Evil
Fat Bastard
Goldmember

For non-Austin stuff, were there action figures for Wayne’s World or The Cat In The Hat? I can’t seem to find anything. I know Shrek doesn’t count.
