What ACTUALLY Works?

I’ll nth Rain X.

Looking back at more posts, Blistex is it for chapped lips.

WRT storing lettuce: I’ve put it in brown paper bags.

I can’t speak to every product in the following image, but the bottle second from left in front is great stuff. I’ve used it to remove residue from stickers that you have to peel off things…it has petroleum distillates in it and dissolves them beautifully.

Quick Easy Wash is good. They developed it for people who have huge RVs and need to wash them without using a lot of water (since RV parks don’t have enough drainage, I guess).

Here’s a writeup of how it’s used.

I’m pretty sure they also gave their blessing to Cold Water Tide. It did a better job in cold water than other detergents. I don’t buy it, because I’m too cheap, but maybe that’s false economy.

How much does a wash tub full of warm water cost? (…and that’s not even factoring in the decreased life span of the clothes.)

“WET Premium Body Glide” (works better than KY).

Tupperware FridgeSmart veggie containers. I’ve had things keep edible for as much as three weeks, which otherwise would have started to go downhill after just a few days. And they stack, too.

I’ve been coveting one of these for a few weeks now. My boyfriend is a chemist who does various kinds of testing and found that the chemicals in a certain wet floor cleaning pad are very bad for pets. The chemicals get absorbed through their paw pads even when the floor is dry. The paper has not been published yet, so I’m not naming the product. No more of those for me though.

The Shark uses only water and the pads are machine washable. I’ll be getting one now that I know it works well.

Sorry for the double post. I have a ton of these left from my Tupperware consultant days. They really do work

Gorilla Glue

Rit Color Remover. My husband has a bad habit of leaving pens in his pockets and then tossing them in the laundry; turned a whole load pink. (No, the ink was not pink, but the part that separated and stained the laundry was.) Soaked it in Rit Color Remover and all the pink was gone. For two bucks it saved us from having to throw away all those clothes.

Dryel. It really does work just as well as dry-cleaning at a fraction of the cost and hassle.

Wahl hair trimmers. Go into any place that cuts hair, and look at their trimmers. At least 99% of the time, their trimmers will say Wahl on the side, and there’s a reason for that: they work great, they’re powerful, and they’re bulletproof. I have a little one to trim my goatee; in about 5 years, all it’s needed is occasional lubrication.

Speaking of Gorilla Glue, did you know they make tape now? Yep, Gorilla Tape. It’s about 3 times stickier than duct tape, and feels a bit thicker too.

Stihl outdoor power equipment. Sure, you can buy a cheap trimmer at Wal-Mart and it’ll work okay for a couple of summers, but it’ll start giving you trouble in year two and probably die in year three. A Stihl may cost twice as much, but it’s 10x the quality, and it’ll probably be cutting grass longer than you will.

Night & Day brand 30-day contact lenses. They’re perfect for my eyes. I can wear each pair continuously for at least 30 days each with no discomfort whatsoever. In fact, they protect my eyes from being stung by smoke or what have you.

This fabric shaver for pills on sweaters. Makes sweaters and other fabrics look brand new.

This mop for hard floors.
These nylon pattipants. make skirts fall smoothly and stops thighs from chafing. Very comfortable.

Liquid Silk is great, too!

The KY Warming Gels are also very nice for a change of pace.

Thirded and seconded, respectively

They’re both more than worth the money

To add to “Resolve” Spot Shot is the greatest carpet cleaner for pet stains I have ever used. Resolve is awesome and all, but Spot Shot is just all kinds of awesome.

Gonna throw in Rain-X too…phi-nominal!

I used to have a girlfriend who refused to buy anything but name brand (Pantiene if I remember correctly) shampoo/conditioner. She had long straight hair and said the store brands just didn’t cut it.

Downy Wrinkle Remover: This stuff is frigging amazing. Just spray a light mist on your clothes and rub out all wrinkles…A MUST for college.

Red Baron Microwavable French Bread Pizzas/DiGornio Microwavable Individual Pizzas: Both of these are the best microwaveable pizzas out there. I work in a grocery store and have tried a lot of the food in frozen for lunches and such…and these two are by far the best.

What conditions does this work for? Are there different types?

Our Great Dane has skin allergies like nothing on earth, and there are soooo many pills the poor pup needs to take, and I haven’t heard of this before.

Yep. My husband uses it and it works where acne stuff from the drug store (clearasil, noxema, etc) fail.

It does work really well, but buy the smallest amount you can to do the job at hand. It gets hard n the bottle after a while.

Turtle Wax makes a wax/polish that you can spread on everything and anything on your car, such as all the paint AND the plastic and rubber. It polishes the plastic and rubber and leaves no residue.

Floss sticks/picks, from a variety of manufacturers, are an incredible investment in your teeth that you will use and enjoy.

Arm and Hammer Baking Soda Extra Whitening Toothpaste with Peroxide. Damn if that stuff isn’t the best bargain in the toothpaste aisle.

I just bought a small bottle of something called Sliquid (yeah, the name’s pretty precious) that I’m liking. I bought it at a specialty store that caters to women, though, so it might be harder to find.
