I’ll stand by L-lysine. I my skin is prone to weird infections and irritations. L-lysine works really well.
The asparagus thing I tried as well. I just couldn’t handle that much asparagus in my diet.

So glad I’m the first to mention the Roomba robot vaccuum.
You push a button and go away and when you return, the floors are clean. It’s like magic.
Takes a bit more maintenance than a regular vaccuum, but I’d say for every hour I’d have to spend vaccuuming myself, I spend five minutes on the Roomba.
It’s wonderful.
Avon Skin So Soft as insect repellent.
Duct tape.
Graphite powder for locks.
WD-40.
Ahem…. Thanks.
Wet Platinum (the silicone one) ftw! I have always hated KY (and don’t get me started on vaseline!).
As far as things I’ve found:
Orange Glo Hardwood Floor Cleaner: I went through my Swiffer phase and my Readymop phase, but this thing was absolutely awe-inspiring. We were moving into a house downtown that had hardwood floors everywhere, but they had been ignored for a while. Used this thing and it went from barely presentable to purty. (The house was near the university and had been passed around by frat buddies for a while)
Febreeze. This stuff WORKS. Sweaty male teenager shoes: Done. Sweaty male teenager laundry: Done. And I mean between washings. (I wash clothes once a week, but sometimes their hamper is thoroughly smelly on wednesday, with all the various practices and stuff.) It even works on “my cat laid on this all day, and it doesn’t exactly smell BAD, but…”
Umm, no. And even Consumer Reports sez no.(Except on the rely tiny bugs we dont get out here, they cant get trough the layer of oil).
Tennessee insects do not read Consumer Reports.
I love Soil Love (yes, it’s an odd name), which I can get at the 99 Cents Only store. Dilute it by half and spray it on heavily soiled clothes. It’s so good that one of your problem is clean spots on your jacket because you didn’t spray across all the dirt.
Strange. It didn’t do jack shit for my skin (in fact, it’s an issue I’m still struggling with). I felt somewhat cheated, in fact, when the results I experienced didn’t live up to the hyped-up expectations of the commercials.
Are we talking mosquitoes?
Hmmm. I wonder if that might solve a problem I have. I want to span several house structures with Internet access, but they are on the other side of a dune and thru the forest. This is too much of a distance and/or barrier for wireless, but they are on the same powerline feed (same stepdown transformer). I wonder if this would work?
It didn’t help me either (I finally broke down and went to a dermatologist. That helped.) My theory is that ProActiv has lower levels of benzoyl peroxide than the usual stuff you find in a store, so if part of your problem is being caused by skin irritation, ProActiv still has enough BP to be effective, not enough to cause a backlash. How I came up with this theory I don’t recall.
Probably not, unless you could get your manager to plug one into his outlet (and hook it up to his router with an ethernet cable). The Actiontec plugs (and other, similar devices) don’t improve wifi- they are basically ethernet cables that use your household wiring as part of the line. You get the speed of ethernet, without having to string wires all over your house.
It might work. I’ve read that you can get degraded (read, slower) signal- or complete loss of signal- when the units are on different circuits. In my house I’ve got them on two different circuits, though (different circuit breakers), and I’m not having any trouble.
That’s what I decided. I ended up buying this, supported on 98-Vista, I have XP.
I recommend it. While my apt signal is still at 2 bars, I no longer get dropped which would happen maybe once or twice a day before. I also pick up other local signals (unfortunately secure) which I did not previously.
A minor caveat. I use a netbook with no dvd drive. The item comes with a cd with drivers and I’ve heard some grousing about them being out of date what ever that means. I followed a link (can’t recall it now but it should be easy enough to find), downloaded the XP driver and installed it no problem.
For $10 including shipping, you can’t beat it.
I’ve put dryer sheets in my shoes and that has taken away the foot smell. OK, there’s a slight smell of ocean breezes or whatever, but the foot smell is gone.
I have purchased the Shark steam mop recommended above and will have to see how it does. Looking forward to it!
I am house cleaning impaired as well. I really think it works well for lots of grime. The only pace it doesn’t do a fantastic job is some vinyl flooring I have with little depressions in it. But other than that it owrks great on really messy stuff.
I do sometimes have to spot clean really bad areas, but not that often.

ProActiv didn’t work for my skin either. I switched to DermaDoctor. This stuff is expensive but is the only thing that seems to control my breakouts. I love it.
Mr. Clean Magic Eraser is great!!
Dyson vacuums are also worth the hype in my opinion.
Those of you with canker sore problems, have you tried using toothpaste without SLS (sodium lauryl sulfate)? It made a huge difference for me. Before, I would often get multiple canker sores per month, and I haven’t had one for years. Rembrandt makes one. Biotene, which also treats dry mouth, doesn’t have SLS, and neither does some new stuff called Closys. Tom’s of Maine has a lower level of SLS and may be enough of a difference for some people.
ProActiv worked OK for me, better than other drugstore stuff, but IME my skin reacts better to salycilic acid or tea tree oil products than BP in general - BP dries it out and leaves it flaky, then the flakiness clogs my pores, so I just break out again, or at least makes my skin look dull.
