I am doing a comparison of marketing geared towards women in Turkey, Egypt, and Pakistan and I was wondering if any Dopers have been to these countries lately and can tell me what Western companies they saw doing advertising there - specifically with products geared towards the women consumer like cosmetics, hair/skin care, and fashion.
Hopefully some Dopers will be able to chime in and tell me which brands they saw and I can springboard that into emailing the companies directly and asking their marketing techniques in those countries.
In Turkey I bought 2 Rolex Oyster watches for about £5 each and both had a no quibble 20 minute guarantee. FWIW they are both still in fine working order after 8 years.
In Egypt I bought 20 pairs of Calvin Klein boxers for £3 the lot. Unfortunately the fly was sewn up on 'em all
They must have seen you coming - the two I bought there were less than £1.50 each. And yes, they probably still work just fine, although I’m having a hard time trying to get any jeweller to change the batteries. They won’t touch them.
I saw zero television but a good deal of billboard advertising in Cairo. I can’t say I would consider any of it to have been aimed at women specifically. As for Western companies, Coca-Cola had a massive campaign going on with a lovely brunette model (very reminiscent of Lauren Graham from The Gilmore Girls). That’s the only one I really remember.
