What album are you?

among many others, right now I will pick,

Bob Marley - Uprising

What album am I? Please don’t back away slowly from me for posting this, but I’d have to say I’m Kate Bush’s “The Dreaming” played REAL loud.

::watches people shudder and move away::

I dont know if I should shudder and back away, i have never heard of kate bush.

Actually, I might be a bit closer to Kate’s “Hounds of Love,” with a mainstream “A” side and slightly weird and artsy “B” side.

As for who the heck Kate Bush is…the Tori Amos fans on this thread should know. The two women/singers/ songerwriters/pianists/producers are sometimes compared to each other, and if you like one of them chances are you’d like the other.

AND Kate was the lady who sang the “Don’t Give Up” duet with Peter Gabriel. AND she was suppossed to have one of her songs used in the soundtrack for “Dinosours,” but Disney didn’t like the lyrics (not chessy enough for their tastes?) and told Kate to change them! Um, would you tell Tori Amos how to write a song? HELL, no! And you don’t pull that with Kate.

Yay MarvelWuthering Heights has long been a favourite of mine… as for albums…

Pink Floyd - The Final Cut… with second dibs on Marianne Faithful - Broken English.

Jeeez… All these Rush fans… Gotta admit, I DON’T like ‘em. I can appreciate the integrity of the tunes but they do nothin’ for me. To each their own I guess. I grew up with a bunch of kids in High school that just worshiped those guys. Thats the thing about Rush fans, they are a unique breed. I’ve never known anyone who “kinda” liked Rush. It’s always either “not a fan” or “FUCKIN’RUSH, BABY!!! WHOOO!!!” Followed by some disertation on how frickin amazing Neil Pert(sp?) was on such and such song…

Anyways, my personal fav… Probably The Clash’s London Calling. In a more tender year I would have said Mark Curry’s It’s Only Time. God, that album was pretty autobiographical for me when it came out.

No offense, Rush devotees, just a casual observation. Rock on, dudes. One last thing. Has anyone seen SLC Punk? Piece of crap movie, but it has one great scene at the end with these two kids in their parent’s celar playing D&D with a Rush record on in the background. One of the kids remarks about how he knows Rush is cool and all but here’s something new… then he puts on a Generation X song. It was the only point during the movie that got any response from the audience at all. And a large cheer at that.

The CD of my life is one I’ve made myself.

It includes:

Kryptonite by Three Doors Down, because I feel the tearing need to be someone’s hero.

Hero by Foo Fighters, same deal.

Leader of Men by Nickelback

I Try by Macy Gray

Brick by Ben Folds Five

Beverly Hills Cop theme

Knight Rider theme

Nice Guys Finish Last by Green Day cuz I always finish last.

I’ll Never Fall In Love Again by Burt Bacharach and Elvis Costello

Can’t remember the rest.

Real albums, I gotta say Limp Bizkit’s 2nd one… can’t remember the name… Days of the New’s Days of the New 2… that’s all I got right now… maybe later.

I saw SLC punk and I thought it was great. If you’re not a punk, and you can’t empathize with what the kids are going through, then yes, I suppose it would be boring. I wouldn’t go so far as to say, “piece of crap”, but it definitely wouldn’t be too much fun. That scene in the basement was golden, though. I suppose I’ll add another album to the list.

Bouncing Souls - The Good, The Bad and The Argyle

It gets better every time I hear it, and I can identify with every word.

Bad Religion - The New America

well I gotta say that the new Bad Religion CD is worth listeng to, and It has a few words to live & love by.

"And I Don’t know were we are going,
but were here on this ride.
and well stand side by side all along the way…

…and now is the time to set the agenda. learn the past.
make it last.
share the wealth, hold your fire, conserve life.
make it right.
kill the hate. negotiate
There will be a way…"
– “there will be a way”

I can quote all day on this CD, But the above sums it up.

If you think the new album is good, you should go back in time and get Suffer, Against the Grain, and No Control. Those three albums are an education in themselves.

Personally, I’m disappointed with the ne stuff. I liked The Gray Race and No Substance (which many people hated), but I would love to hear them go back to the old style one more time, if only for die-hards like me.

I’m personally partial to “stranger than fiction”

I guess I can’t really relate that much. I certainly was amongst these people for a good long while. Hard to spend 8 years in art school with out meeting a punk or two. Just thought the movie lacked any real charm, unlike say, Trainspotting, which is one of my favorites.
I also don’t care much for Mathew Lilard as an actor. Anyways, enough with the thread hijacking.
Oh, and more on subject, when NIN’s Pretty Hate Machine came out, that too, blew my mind.

…my album is Alanis Morissette’s Jagged Little Pill. There’s some very poignant songs on there for me, with the unreleased “The Doctor” my favorite. It completely encapsulates a relationship that had ended right around when I bought the album.

Metal Machine Music

Weren’t you leaving?

Oh, man…

Please do not start your shit in here, Z.
