What are chocolatey treats so fattening?

Any basis for your first claim? Because, again, the actual studies show that real people DO consume them moderately. Those who eat more nuts tend to have lower BMIs and adding nuts to a diet, in addition to a baseline diet, does not result in weight gain.

Fattening is as fattening does.

No basis.

I don’t have the time to take this down the ‘cause and effect versus casual relationship’ path.

Can’t say that I understand that last sentence, but whatev’s. Again the point is that just like King Crabbers have a dangerous job because they die often, nuts are not fattening because eating them does not cause one to get fat.

Back to chocolate. A great review for the interested. Yes, one should not eat too much, but small amounts of dark and not highly processed chocolate, say 40g a day, are likely more benefit than harm. Raw cocoa would be best yet. (I add some to my nonfat yogurt every so often. Don’t know where my wife bought it.)

Fattening means ‘to make fat’ so to use this word to describe specific foods is a bit silly, IMO. No one is going to get or remain fat if all they eat is 800 cals per day of Hersey’s Nuggets. And many thin people eat fatty foods and high in calories.
