Just getting back to the original question re: Footballer’s Wives. If you imagine that the imaginary club featured would be a top 6 Premiership Team with a few of the players playing for England (I believe Conrad was supposed to be England Captain, a Beckham pastiche), then the lifetsyles depicted (endless cars, big houses, features in Hello magazine) are pretty close to reality. Certainly if the images of the England WAGS (wives and girlfriends) parading around the Prada shops in Germany right now are anything to go by.
