I’m going to have to watch that video again. I’ve noticed that I tend to think Huckabee sounds reasonable and is making sense right before he goes off the deep end and into hard core Fundamentalism. On the other hand, his views on abortion alone make him someone I would never vote for.
:Wide-eyed innocent look: Why, gee, sir, in over 40 years of life and 7 years of hanging around GD, I never considered that!
Come on, you’d find it rude if someone made a one-sentence post attempting to get you to change your beliefs. May I ask that you extend me the same courtesy? I have, actually, noticed that many people around here frown on having religious beliefs, but I’m afraid that, if only for logistical reasons, I’m not likely to make any changes to mine for at least the next six months or so.
TheBigTripleD, I agree with you about saying one “believes” in evolution. I believe in god*, the importance of truth, honor, and justice. These are things which don’t require evidence or hard proof (sorry, gonzomax), are outside the realm of science and are effectively non-negotiable. I accept the evidence behind evolution (and, for that matter, gravity, the science behind physics, chemistry, and biology) but realize that those are the current best attempts to explain the world as we know it. If evidence comes along that replaces evolution with something better (“God did it” is not better evidence!), I’d be willing to accept that. Science and religion, in my opinion, are separate things and should not be confused.
