What are the cleanest clubs in your bag?

Just want to see if I’m a freak. In order:

3I
3W
4I
8I
9I
6I
5I
1W
7I
5W
PW

Depending on the hole, I try to do 1W, 5W, PW and then putt. I’m not afraid to use other clubs, but those are what I use the most.

I’ve played in a cow pasture tournament for some years and we figured out that a two-some could play with a 5W, 7I, PW and putter. That would get us from 80 to 600 yards (in a cow pasture where you are carrying your club for 5-6 hours.)

Whistlepig

It’s been raining and 50 degrees or less all weekend. I could walk to snow in 10 minutes from my front door. I cleaned my clubs. I’d rather be doing golf.

Is this about that “golf” game thing?
The one that old people play?
I hear it causes Satanism.
And then you listen to heavy metal music.
And junk.
A TV preacher said so!
So it must be a bad thing.
They oughtta make it illegal.
It also attracts tigers.  :stuck_out_tongue:

The above is satire.

I’m a woman, AND don’t golf, but I just wanted to say this:

It’s my WOOD.
Because I’m always polishing it!
BWAAAAAHAHAAAA!

[sub]Gimme a break, I’m tired. YOU host a Dopefest at your house and see how well you hold up at the end of the weekend.[/sub]

The cleanest club in my bag is my 60 degree lob wedge, because I just can’t make a good shot with it. Other than that, it really depends on which course I played last.

The second cleanest club in my bag should be my driver because I shouldn’t be using that either, but every once in a while the Machismo gene gets in the way.

I rarely use my 3 iron, 4 iron, or 5 iron. On a typical par 4 I hit driver and won’t need anything more than a 6 iron. On a short par 5 (which I haven’t seen in a long time because most new courses don’t seem to have then - or so I’ve noticed) I may be required to use a low iron but lately I just use a 3/4 five wood instead because I seem to have far more control with that than with a low iron.

Err… I have no idea what the OP means except that I think it refers to the World’s Most Boring Activity: Golf.

Heh… the least used club in my bag has to be the deuce. I’m just never in the right situation to use it. 'Course, I have a pretty long ball to begin with so on those really short par 4s the quad tends to suffice.

“In ancient times, men would beat the ground with clubs, swear oaths and curses, and they called it Witchcraft. Now, they just call it Golf.”

Cleanest to dirtiest during a round:
3W
5W
8I
6I
4I
9I
8.0 degree Driver
SW
10.5 degree Driver
5I
7I
3I
11I

I hate my fairway woods and sometimes don’t even bring them. I had a 9W for a while that was the biggest waste of a club I ever saw and gave the damn thing away to a stranger. If I play a three club game, I bring my 3, 7 and 11. Where I hit, I always seem to be in the odd # iron range.

This seems to me to be a polling thread. Off to IMHO.

The cleanest club in my bag is definitely my 3-iron; I just have a problem with that club. Next to cleanest club - my driver as the head is just too big (if I were a male, that statement would have a totally different meaning).

Dirtiest club - my 7-iron; man, I love my 7-iron.

The cleanest clubs in the bag huh? lets see, I don’t take much to the 7 or sand wedge. I use the sand wedge more though but not much. The next cleanest would be the 4 and 5 irons. I use them mostly for teeing off. Then would be the 5 wood and the 8 iron.

Me dirtest clubs are the 6 iron and pitching wedge. That and my 9 iron that I havent cleaned but do not use. I could if I wanted to play a good round with just a 6 iron, PW and putter. Actaully I don’t know why I carry the rest of my clubs sometimes.

That’s easy.

My 2 iron. I never use it.

It’s evil.

My cleanest club is my 4 iron. Don’t know why, but I never use it. My 5 and 7 Irons are the most heavily used. I love my 7 iron.

Cleanest 1w and 3w, for some reason, I duck hook both clubs, every time I pull them from the bag. I’m down to only pulling the driver out one a round in an almost ceremonial attempt at reapproachment. It goes left into the next fairway and I trudge out with my 5w in hand, whispering sweet nothings about how the next time will be different and I’ll never forsake it for a flashier, better stacked club.

Next cleanest is my pitching wedge. I broke the original one that came with my set and replaced it with some $5 cheapie that is too short for my stance. I’ve never gotten around to getting a better one, I make do with my sand wedge and a knockdown 9 iron.

Dirtiest is definitely my 5 wood. I hit it very nearly as far as I would hit my driver (if I could hit my driver) and it’s the only club I have that I can routinely keep my slice tamed down into a nice fade. I love my 5 wood, I’ll pull it out on almost every par 5 and long par 4. Only when I know I’m going to put it through the fairway will I leave it in the bag and go with a low or mid iron.

My 4 iron- I hit my 3 iron a lot, especially if I need to punch out a long way, or hit something which will stay low, but I have no flipping use for my 4 iron.

dirtiest club- probably my wedges- I hit them a lot.

The sand wedge that came with my set of DCIs. When I got my irons I wasn’t originally provided with this sand wedge, so I used my old sand wedge, this giant hoseled, round bladed Tommy Armour relic. A couple of weeks later, I got the sand wedge and added it to my set. The Tommy Armour is great out of the sand and thick rough, so I still use it. I’m trying to implement a Three Wedge System  now, with the DCI sand wedge used for the 80-90 yard shots and short chips from the fringe.

By the way, Bethpage Black is going to eat up the pros. That course kicked my ass the one time I played it. Sure, I’m no pro, but you know a course is tough when an 8 handicapper nearly scores in triple digits

3 Wood. Rarely if ever use it. Sometimes I just don’t bring it.

The sand wedge, by its nature, is very dirty.

Since I play almost all of my golf from the rough or in the tree line, everything is a mess.

My brother gave me a 1-iron, needless to say, I have NEVER used it on a course, and never will. I will occasionally us it at the driving range, as a novelty item. Neat thing with the 1-iron, early on in a bucket, I can knock the ball a good long distance (and fairly straight), late in a bucket, I can’t hit it to save my life.

Dirtiest, probably the pitching wedge, since I use that on pretty much every hole. Close behind is the 3-iron, but I’m getting more used to my 5 wood, and I just bought a 3 wood, so my iron usage will probably drop.

Cleanest club in my bag is the 4-iron. Normally I only use my driver, 5-iron, 9-iron, pitching-wedge, and putter. I was given a sick-bitch of a 7-wood which was only good to use when directly behind a large oak. I passed it on to my brother.

I love golfing fast - 9 holes in a hour is good. Whistlepig what was your most memorable shot? I sank a 20 foot putt on the 18th hole during a best-ball tourney. The crowd cheered. Of course they were pretty much soused by then as we were the last group in. They probably would’ve cheered if I’d missed by a mile too!

It’s not a hijack if I started the thread.

West Glacier, Montana. May evening. I’m the only person on the course - the clubhouse wasn’t open and a groundskeeper told me to just go ahead and play since they didn’t have an honor box.

On number 18 (par 4) I hit a 235 yard drive, which is good for me. Second shot, I drop a 7 iron about 40 yards off the green. As I’m walking up to my ball a herd of about 20 elk run out of the trees and start eating on the green.

I wait a few minutes, then wave my coat to scare them off. I put the ball three feet from the cup and TWO PUTT because the ball gets stuck in a hoofprint 6 inches from the cup.

I gave myself a par.
