You’ve all caught the “eX-Presidents” sketches, which were a part of TV Funhouse on Saturday Night Live? (Gee, I’ve always thought that would make a great comic book / cartoon series!)
Anyway, what were the powers of the various members?
I seem to remember Nixon, having passed away, was sort of a Spectre type character. But for the life of me, I can’t remember the powers of Ford, Carter, Reagan and Bush.
And on a side note, what power will Clinton be endowed with upon his innauguration into this august group. I do so hope they do more sketches with Pres. W calling on them to help out…
I am holding in my hot little hands the X-Presidents comic book.
Reagan: can fly, and shoot fireballs from hands
Carter: Flies, and has Ninja-Action, and x-ray vision
Ford: Can also fly, and does some kind of whirlwind thing thing too.
Bush: Okay, it appears they can all fly. I can’t tell what Bush’s power is. In the comic he always lassoing something, or shooting flaming arrows at it, or doing something else equally wussy. hmmmm…
IIRC, Bush shoots lasers out of his eyes during the cartoon intro, and Ford has super-strength.
My opinion is that they all have a wide range of super powers which their creators assign arbitrarily depending on the situation at hand … this ain’t the Fantastic Four here, where each one can only do one or two things.
hmm, well, Barbara Bush is a She-Hulk-like creature, Nancy has wings and can, apparently, fly, Rosalynn looks not unlike a early Marvel Girl, & Betty’s tastful black costume gives no indication of her powers, except for her quote: “I’m addicted… to wasting your ass!”
Forgive the slight hijack, but if you like Robert Smigel, look for TV Funhouse now on Comedy Central Wednesday nights at 10:30pm eastern.
The show was created by him as well as the guy who does Triumph the Insult Comic Dog who became famous on Conan O’Brien (and was sued by Pets.com). The show goes out of its way to offend, allow me to highlight the activities of the most recent episode.
Various animals visit “Same’s Restaurant, where you eat what you are”. They show a lamb eating lamb chops, a chicken enjoying fried chicken and a cow eating hamburgers. The cat and dog at the table are enjoying Chinese food. A lobster picks out a female lobster from the tank, then brings it home (after being cooked) and makes love to it.
The same chicken comes home and discovers one of his sons masturbating to chicken porn. The young chick runs away and joins a cult, cutting off his testicles (as do the others in the cult).
It is Hawaii day, so the host of the Fun House (Doug) honors the state by cutting the 50th star out of the American Flag and stapling it to cardboard.
One of the cartoons is Heche, Kidder (I think), and Downey. It basically shows them as a detecitve agency solving crimes by staggering around neighborhoods and busting into people’s homes.
The concept of “A moment of silence” (regarding Pearl Harbor) is explained through a song full of wacky hijinks and sound effects.
You’ll feel dirty for watching it, but will likely laugh before the obligatory shower =)
Hey LlamaPoet, did you happen to catch the most recent episode of TV Funhouse with the space theme? Man, I couldn’t stop laughing to the “Safety Kids” skit with the 4 kids who were dancing around barbed wire and sharp spikes. The part with “Stranger Dan” was just too much.
I’m not sure if this is what you were trying to say, but Robert Smigel is the guy who created Triumph. And, yes, TV Funhouse is the funniest show on television…FOR ME TO POOP ON!!
