What are these Dominion Voting Machines? (Fox News and Dominion have settled for $787.5 million)

That is probably why I have this problem with left OW! …and right.

Also, would the law for taxability of lawsuit money, apply to an out-of-court settlement?

Yes. The same rules would apply to an out of court settlement. There might be some obscure exception that Dominion can use, but generally to be tax exempt, it has to be a settlement pertaining to physical injury.

Bump. Can’t be a coincidence, can it?

Perhaps there really is a God.

It’s about time.

(:notes: It’s about space. It’s about time to slap his face! :notes:)

I wonder if executives had a serious sit-down with Carlson, and told him that he would no longer be allowed to lie and defame people on air. And he did not like this, as it’s all he knows how to do.

I’m wondering what were the terms of his departure? I’d assume that he was still under contract, did he get paid off?

Fox News of course gives lots of detail < s > " They have mutually agreed to part ways" says a story buried down their webpage. I found it interesting that he was punted over the weekend, left immediately, and is not even able to say “so long, farewell, auf Wiedersehen, goodbye” to the goobers.

It seems more likely to me that they’re angry at him because of all those texts saying how stupid the guests were, and how frightening Trump was, and basically admitting the Dominion tales were a lie, which were a big part of Fox having to settle.

Otherwise, Hannity would certainly be gone.

Agreed.

“This rat couldn’t keep his mouth shut. So we had to off ‘em.”

Dedicated thread here:

Here’s an editorial written by the president of Dominion Voting Systems regarding the settlement.

Nothing surprising until the end……Dominion’s lawyers advised them not to sign the final agreement until Fox News had the wire transfer for 787.5 million set up and ready to go.

So the invoice has been paid in full!

Nitpick: Settlement, not verdict.

Thanks for the catch, I’ve edited my post.

I know they already settled with Fox, but it turns out Trump himself pushed “Dominion interference” lies to Doug Mastriano in Pennsylvania, who was running for governor and of course ate it up.

It’s also interesting that even some Republicans apparently didn’t agree with the talking points. Now if their voices were a little louder and more influential….

Smartmatic is going after the top people at Fox. As they should-the talent couldn’t have kept talking about Smartmatic without the bosses allowing it.

One of the court reporters I proofread transcripts for is scheduled to take Howie Carr’s pretrial deposition in Dominion’s lawsuit against Newsmax, sometime in July. Assuming it does go forward, it should make for some interesting reading. Not that I’ll be relating any of it here, since it’s likely to be treated as confidential, and in any case I don’t discuss the depositions I proofread with outsiders.

We’re not outsiders. We’re Dopers! Part of your clan! Family!

I know. I used to deal with stuff that required two people at all times, TEMPEST shielding, and so on.

A lawyer has been removed from the Dominion defamation case (yes, that’s still going on too) for leaking all kinds of documents. I know it’s been said before so many times, but it looks like she just executed her own legal career, and for what? A pat on the head from Trump?
