Yeah, I know it’s only the end of May, but I typically have elaborate Halloween costumes and prefer to start planning them WELL in advance. My sister is an amateur costume designer, and since I leave for school in August, she also needs to get an early start on whatever I’m wearing.
Two thoughts for this year:
-
Boba Fett: Since I’m a Star Wars nut, I’m dying to make this one. Finding a helmet and chestplate shouldn’t be a problem. My concern is that constructing the rest of the costume will be. Fett has a lot of specialized equipment (i.e., the jetpack) and I don’t know that I could convincingly construct them over the summer. The risk I run is that either the costume will be incomplete or else just look bad.
-
King Arthur from Monty Python: Not my first choice, given my numbering, but could be a lot of fun. This one will go easier on my sister, since all she’d have to sew is the tunic. The problem is that this will be even costlier on me if I want it to be authentic. I’d have to track down a chain mail shirt in my size (this in particular will get pricey), a decent crown, and whatever that mail headdress is that Arthur wears. I can envision making Arthur’s shield by shaping and painting a large piece of wood from Home Depot.
Plus, it’d be a lot of fun to have someone run behind me, banging coconuts together.
- Hi Opal! (I always wanted to do that.)
Thoughts, anyone? What are your costume ideas?
