What are you cooking on the 4th?

Actually, I made my family a homemade picnic, complete with skillet-fried chicken, watermelon, potato salad, biscuits, etc.

BBQ’d some pork ribs to go with the homemade cole slaw, fresh peaches and watermelon.

Sausage burgers (sausage removed from the casing and formed into burgers).
Grilled portabellos for the vegetarians.
Cole slaw made with half cabbage/half fennel. (try it. Delicious. Just slice the bulb up like you would cabbage)
Southwest-style black beans.
Home-made cherry pie with about 2.5 pounds of actual cherries.
Cheverè wine. (yup, they put Che Guevera on a wine label) Hey, it’s Independance day!

My entire 4th of July intake was a cup of tea, a large cup of coffee, a supersize fries and diet soda, and some strawberries and blueberries on top of meringue shells covered with Cool Whip (red, white & blue, get it?) washed down with more ice tea.

I fixed country ribs ( The boneless ones) baked in the oven, covered in BBQ sauce, a baked potato and an ear of corn. Ate it alone. Shared a rib with the dogs.
