My friend from San Francisco had it all figured out
She was to come down to los angeles and go to her favorite club(Gabba).I had invites to other party’s but i declind them all because my good friend was comeing to see me. But when she came down much to her surpise, the club would be closed that night. So what was a girl to do? well i’ll tell you what she did she latched on to another of her friends to go to a shwanky party in beverly hills and ditched me. I was mortified. now i’m chaseing leads to any decent New Year Party, and still have not found one
The lesson: Know your friends
It may not be too late to check to see if anyone from the SDMB in your area is having a Dopefest New Year’s Eve party, or maybe you could start one. I’ve always been a sort of last minute person myself, but I live far away from L.A., in chilly Minnesota.
imthjckaz and I are staying home and vegetating. I will call friends, neighbors, and relatives on or around midnight, and then go to bed.
He will probably watch TV and have a couple of beers.
Happy New Year, everyone!

Since my Tygr is sick, I think we are spending the day and NYE together at home. He will have hot tea and honey and I will spike myself some hot cocoa. I might break bad and order a Pizza. Can’t decide. I really want to cook food for Tygr for the week, since work is sending me to Kansas City, Mo Tuesday, but feel lazy today.
It’s too cold for First Night and with the house closing in two weeks, we can’t really afford what we did last year. We went to a Fondue restaraunt and toasted the New year in with everyone there. We all gathered in the bar and wathced the ball drop.
In about two hours, I’ll be heading over to a friend’s flat with enough wine and champagne to drown a tyrannosaur. It’s going to be a slightly debauched wine-dinner-board-games kind of evening.
We are going to spend the afternoon skating with the kids and I’ll be playing a little shinny with the guys afterwards if my knee holds up. After a nice dinner we’ll just settle in for the evening with the kids. I think we’ll make some home-made ice cream, play games, and watch some movies.
It’s going to be a pretty normal day with the only exception being that Lola and I can celebrate five years together at midnight.
This is what makes New Years really special here.
Well, I’d prefer to do a load of blow as the ball drops. Does that count?
