All I got so far are homemade knitted scarves for mom, dad and step-mom, because I just learned to knit and it takes me a long time.
I’ve got two CD’s for the Boy so far: Black and Bluegrass - a Tribute to Ozzy Osbourne and Black Sabbath, and Good For Your Soul by Oingo Boingo.
And I’ve found the perfect present for a rather religious friend of mine who’s constantly quitting and then starting smoking again: An ashtray with a picture of Jesus in the bottom and the words “Jesus Hates It When You Smoke”. He’ll love it.
We don’t exchange gifts anymore, which is the best thing ever. Instead, I’m buying myself a Panasonic PV-GS250 camcorder. The price keeps dropping, so I’m holding out just a bit longer before pouncing.

I still need to buy a few more things for my dad.
Mom is moving in a few months, so she gets a delayed gift of a new piece of furniture, whatever the new place needs. The wife and I decided that what we both really want is a new bed, so we are buying that as our Christmas present to us and sticking with stocking stuffers. The cats are getting more toys than they can shake their tails at. Other than that, our friend’s kids are all getting books (Terry Pratchett mainly).

Nice finally having my own debit card.

Stocking Stuffers at Work: short, fat, cinnamon-stick candles from Target
Cool thread.
Brother: A nice Franklin Planner (dunno what else to get him…he has everything)
Mom: Don’t know yet; probably chocolate. It’s the only thing she won’t turn around and give to my bitch sister. (And if she does, the bitch will get even fatter)
Secret Santa giftee: Oops! Can’t say, they might read this.
Friend overseas: Oops! Can’t say; they might read this.
Ex…friend: Goodbye email; something I’m sure they were happy to see, if they bothered to read it.
Self: A laptop. (yeah, I bought for myself…so what!)
LilMiss: iRiver mp3 player, an Aeropostale sweat suit in black and fuschia (her “trademark” colors - her and every other 12 year old girl), an Aeropostale fleece sweat suit with a gold monkey tee (why, yes, she does love Aeropostale - plus they had 1/2 off everything in the store), a hair dryer, the newest Lemony Snicket book, lip gloss set. Stocking: lots of bubble gum, Evanescence CD, Happy Bunny stickers, and bath gel (so she’ll quit using mine!)
The rest of the family we draw names for and we’re not supposed to buy anything for anyone else. Yeah right.
Mom: Wall calendar with pocket
Dad: New wallet - his is currently held together with a rubber binder
Sis: Not quite sure yet. LilMiss and I discussed making her a table centerpiece that she was drooling over at the craft store
Sis’s fiance (I drew his name): three DVD’s on famous WW2 naval battles, Scrabble dictionary, NY Times crossword book, hot sauce, and a ticky tacky cowboy boot glass tree ornament (he’ll love it. Freak.)

Grandneice #2 (age 2): Belle lamp, baby doll

A gloworm
a Cabbage Patch Babies doll (no, I don’t know why it’s “babies” when you only get one)
a vintage Cabbage Patch Kid (boy) to replace one destroyed in a flood last year
Airhockey table
Breadmaker
With one exception, everything on the list is for an adult. I miss getting toys from Santa, and I suspect others secretly do to because toys for adults are always well received.
Kid2U - Guitar Hero Video Game, Portable CD Player, four sets of track pants and hoodies, Eragon and Eldest (Hardcover), Set of 16 rechargeable batteries and the charger, candy, a big New Year’s Party sleepover.
Mr2U - boots - the kind that will go with his old sheepskin coat that he’s had for 30 years - they’re fluffy like the inside of the coat, with ties that wrap around like the suede part of the coat. It’s hard to explain. A jig saw, a few other tools, candy, and some other stuff as I find it.
Mom2U - a donation to her church for their organ fund and a school picture of Kid2U in a nice frame.
SisterInLaw2U - fuzzy slippers, pajamas, and either a good book, or a bottle of Asti which is her favorite. But I’m not sure on this yet.
BrotherInLaw2U - Gift card for Home Depot most likely.
MomInLaw2U - No idea. Mr2U had better come up with something quick.
Nieces and nephews in law (screw the 2U stuff - it’s getting old, isn’t it ) - money
Owners of the bar we go to all the time - a nice food gift - a jar of cookie mix, and a bag of bread mix.
Our favorite neighbor - I’m going to make her a spice cake (my mormor’s recipe).
People at work - Nada. Zip. Zero. Zilch. I’m tired of going through this every year.
My brother and his family - I don’t know. We probably won’t even see them till March or April, so I don’t have to worry about it now.
I have more! My husband did his share of the shopping yesterday, and I finished mine on Saturday.
Co-worker (finally): Burt’s Bees hand repair set (because she was complaining about her hands and nails the other day)
Mother-in-law: Sweater and matching earrings, Enya CD
Father-in-law: Skil Saw
Nephew: American Chopper build-a-motorcycle toy kit
$5 gifts (we each bring one—men bring for men and women for women—and get one; we do this with aunts, uncles, cousins on two sides): Mine: Tart/waffle bar warmers and waffle bars; my husband’s: Terminator III video, and … well, I guess we still need to pick up another one!
Cats: Chia grass growing kit, window seat
Dog: New bones (He doesn’t know the cats got more than he did, even though they were naughty and he’s been good. I think we’re still going to buy him a sweater. He’s going to hate us.)
I also got presents for two birthdays:
Sister: Rod Stewart CD and decorative Santa candleholder
Friend: Tart/waffle bar warmer with waffle bars
My wife has a wonderful system of actually saving for Christmas throughout the year, so now my name gets to be attached to decent gifts, as opposed to the whatever-I-come-up-with-at-the-last-minute-and-can-afford school of gifting.
Some examples:
My sister is getting the first 2 seasons of That 70s Show
My brother is getting a set of high-quality juggling clubs
My mother is getting an assortment of Mary Kay skin care products (selected by my wife, who sells Mary Kay )
My father is getting a copy of Absolute Watchmen, which I plan to borrow eventually
All our grandparents are getting a nice framed photo of us
Her family is getting gift cards, except her mother, who gets a gift card and her favorite Mary Kay stuff.
I went through many iterations of what to get her, but eventually settled on a shiny blue and gold faberge-style egg box, within which is a smaller matching container, inside of which I have placed a silver filigree egg locket, into which I have placed two stips of paper, one saying “Merry Christmas, love caveman” and another with one of my favorite lines from Hamlet (“Doubt that the stars are fire…”). It should be fun to watch her open it!
Sorry to be so slow, but I bought the quilt. I’m sewing challenged.
Mom; dunno yet, she’s hard to shop for
Dad; SureFire G2 Nitrolon flashlight
Sis; Thermos/Nissan coffee mug and gourmet fresh roasted coffee
Sis’s husband; the same, they’re both coffee fanatics and it’ll go well with the grinder i got them last year
Nephew; (4 years old) bike helmet and Incredibell bike bell
Niece; (2 year old) kiddie coloring books/crayons/art stuff
Me; Fenix L1 flashlight
Stainz and I bought an LCD picture frame for our daughter (LCD Picture frame Sophia.
She’s only 2 months old, but we thought it would be nice for her to stare at. It’s really handy when you have a few thousand digital pictures and no real great way to display them.
I think I may get one for my desk at work.
MtM
My Family is pretty small
Mom - HP Digital Camera so she doesn’t have to “Use up” the roll of film anymore and with Her First Grandson will be Taking more pictures
Dad - Creative Zen Touch MP3 player, he has been hinting that he likes mine and has started really ripping CD’s, and will be nice for long drives in the car
Sister and Bro-in-law - Set of 4 custom upholstered bottom Chairs made from Solid Red oak and Stained to Match the Kitchen Table that I built for them last year.
Nephew - Only thing I have bought for him but given yet is a 2005 Silver US Mint Proof Set (birth year and all) yet he is only 3 weeks old right now and has everything that a little boy his age needs, I think I will save my money and buy something later in the year (besides I bought a nice swing as a pre-birth gift already)
The chairs I am building myself, and am almost done, The sis and bro-in-law already know about them as I built a prototype to make sure they would like it before I entered full production, I also got the Ok on the Fabric choice I had made to make sure that it would match their Decor.
Books, mostly. I have a big stack, and sometime between now and Sunday I’ll figure out who gets which ones. Also, a set of Veronica Mars Season One DVDs for my family.
