That’s my problem – no short term effects. I feel great most of the time, and only notice the weight when I look in the mirror or can’t get the same speed on my bike. But my doc points to that number every time and the warnings get more urgent. /OreosTangent
Between tofu and Greek yogurt, I do pretty well. I make my own sauces for the tofu. One is a peanut sauce made with natural PB, and the other is a hoisan sauce, which can both be made pretty low-cal, if you use Splenda instead of sugar. I really like Splenda, but if you don’t, you can experiment with 1/2 sugar and 1/2 artificial sweetener.
I do deep-fry the tofu, but then I drain it, and pat it dry. The fact that I 1. don’t get heartburn from it and 2. don’t gain a ton of weight, even though I eat it pretty often, I think speak for themselves.
I used extra firm tofu. Slice it into strips about 1 x 2 x 1/4", which come out to about 3/4 x 1 & 1/2 x 3/8 inches after it’s fried.
I had to try one of those mega-stuff Oreos. Ate it after a full meal, so I’d probably be OK, but I worried so much after, it was barely worth it.
At least, I satisfied my curiosity, and now I don’t want one anymore.
