What are your 3 favorite movies with a high school setting?

Not Another Teen Movie (That is whack!)
Rushmore (Mmm, English accents.)
Sleepover :stuck_out_tongue:

I’m hoping your recognize that Jesus! was an exclamation and not a movie title, but in any case:

Blackboard Jungle
Prime of Miss Jean Brodie
Goodbye Mr. Chips

Rock ‘n’ Roll High School
Carrie
Fast Times at Ridgemont High

Since, depending on my mood, two of my choices could be any combination of previously mentioned titles** (Heathers, Rushmore, Donnie Darko, Dazed and Confused, Say Anything)**, I’ll just pipe in with my third choice, Three O’Clock High.

Better Off Dead - Numero Uno!
Heathers
To Sir With Love

I (along with plnnr)will speak for the geezers:

American Graffiti
Blackboard Jungle
Rebel Without a Cause

Ditto.

  1. American Grafitti

  2. Election

  3. Varsity Blues

Rushmore
Say Anything
Ferris Bueller’s Day Off. If this doesn’t count, then The Breakfast Club.

Ok, my favorites have been listed, so here’s a few good ones that haven’t been:

Hoosiers
187
The Basketball Diaries

October Sky (who hoo I mentioned this 1st)
Say Anything
Back to the Future

Brian

I have three favorites from this year alone:

Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkeban
Mean Girls
Saved

  1. Election
  2. Rushmore
  3. Ferris Bueller’s Day Off

Rushmore
Gregory’s Girl
Back to the Future

Rock and Roll High School
The Wanderers
To Sir, With Love

Valley Girl (really)
Sixteen Candles
Fast Times at Ridgemont High

I’m surprised and grateful for this thread. I tend to associate “high school” films with either light comedy, romance angst, or car chases. I’m glad to be reminded of two things. The first is that even within these three types, there are some really outstanding films. Secondly, that my three typecast mental pictures are just a pile of crap.

My three:
Ferris Beuller
Risky Business
Stand and Deliver/Hoosiers
a tie  for plucking at the old heartstrings.

To bring up another film that seemingly only I and 3 other prople saw, Dick – starring Kirstin Dunst as a dizzy highschool kid who untimately brings down the Nixon presidency. Very, very clever script, something of a mix of Clueless and Forrest Gump

Also, if you can accept the Thunderdome as a highschool, I would like to nominate the 3rd Mad Max film as best post-apocalyptic car chase highschool film.

I’ve seen the movie ‘Dick’.
It was not too bad.
So that makes five of us now.

I’ve also seen Dick.

Hmm… Only three? I like a lot of these mentioned so far. I’ll add Porky’s to the list. It’s so bad! (I just looked at my Porky’s DVD. Turns out I wasn’t even born yet when it was released…)

It’s too bad Revenge of the Nerds wasn’t a high school movie, because that one would top my list. I haven’t seen the Breakfast Club (well, like 20 minutes or so when it played on cable), Sixteen Candles, or Fast Times.

Would Cruel Intentions count? I probably wouldn’t put it on my list, but I noticed it while scanning my DVD collection. The characters are high schoolers, but it’s not set in a high school.

Anyway, so Porky’s. I’m really close to putting Grease on my list, but I’d be too ashamed. Umm, oops. It’s just too hard limiting myself to only three movies. I think I’ll have to consider this and come back later. Thanks a lot, OP, you could have at least said five. :stuck_out_tongue:
