I’ve resisted signing up for any streaming service. My DirecTV bill is already painful enough.
But, I’d really like to watch the CBS crime dramas, NCIS and NCIS New Orleans, FBI, and Bull. There’s probably others that I’ll check out.
Are all the seasons available? NCIS for example has 18 seasons. Are all online? I’ve heard some streaming only has a few seasons available at anytime. Forcing subscribers to hang around until they’re available again.
Paramount+ is pretty cheap at $4.99 a month. That’s does include seeing commercials. $9.99 without. It’s probably worth the extra cost to avoid 14 mins of commercials in a one hour show.
Paramount + is offering a special this month. One month free for enrolling. Did you have any problems canceling subscriptions?
There’s an App JustWatch that filters. Why would I need that? Doesn’t Paramount+ do that? I am interested in watching shows in Order. Season 1 Ep 1,2,3 etc. I will be watching on a 10.1" Android Tablet.
JustWatch will search all the streaming services for titles and let you know where it is available to watch. If you search on Paramount, you are only searching what they have.
I signed up for a free trial when it was CBS All Access last year to watch Picard & The Twilight Zone and then again this year for The Stand. I keep cancelling it after my free month is up and then a short while later I get another code for a free month. I think I’ve re-subscribed maybe 6-7 times by now, only because it’s free. I would never pay for this one. It’s easily my least watched service. If you’re into the CBS catalog of TV shows, that would be the only reason to get it.
I just checked and it looks like they have all seasons of NCIS/NCIS New Orleans & Bull but only season 3 of FBI.
I have until 6/30 to sign up and get a free month. I’m leaning towards splurging on premium. That Incudes a live feed from my local CBS station and commercial free streaming of archived shows. Pretty good deal.
I wish now that I had continued watching NCIS 15 years ago. I had watched JAG for seven years and was a little burned out on the genre.
You should be able to sign up for the commercial free option for the free month. That’s the one I keep doing. That way you can see if you think it would be worth the $9.99 for no commercials.
Okay, shit like this makes no sense. Now personally I have no interest in ever watching a single episode of Magnum PI ever again, so this doesn’t directly affect me. But when you are charging someone for the privilege of watching your extra-special channel for superior people, why the hell would you only have a single, random, mid-run season available?
A rights issue? But CBS ran all eight seasons. A teaser? A.) why, for a forty-year old show that’s mostly going to be pulling in nostalgic older viewers and b.) why season 3?
Just because a show aired on CBS doesn’t mean it was produced by CBS. And in any case, the production companies try to maximize the revenues from streaming. So if they can get more money from Netflix (or whomever) than from Paramount+, they’ll sell the show.
Oh, gotcha - you’re saying they have 3 seasons of the new show available and not just randomly the single season #3? If so I withdraw my barbed arrows fired at Paramount+ with all apologies to their munificent management.
No, I’m saying they have only season 3 of the new Magnum PI available - but season 3 is the most recent season, so it’s not entirely random. though it’s dumb. I had thought I could catch up on the seasons of FBI I missed, but no, they don’t have the first seasons of that either.
I only subscribed because it was cheaper to do so with ads than buy Magnum PI and All Rise episodes on Amazon/Google Play…now that they’ve cancelled All Rise, I probably will drop it after watching this season of Evil.
I have it but I’m not impressed by it. I bought it to watch some of the new star treks.
When my year subscription expires I’ll get rid of it.
Honestly looking at all the paid apps I’ve used to stream tv, I think the only one thats truly worth it is Hulu. Other ones like paramount+, Starz, netflix, shudder, Disney, HBO max, etc. aren’t worth the price even if its $5 a month.
I had a subscription for a while. It was fine, but most of my TV needs are met by Netflix, YouTube, and Hulu (bundled with Disney+ and HBO Max), so it was extraneous and I cancelled it.
When I went to cancel they offered me another 3 months at a discounted price, 50% off I believe. I cancelled anyways.
I’ve had it with every single network trying to squeeze every last nickel out of us. Once upon a time, if you missed an episode of a CBS show, they’d let you catch up on their web site. Oh, but that wasn’t mercenary enough, so they wanted you to sign up for CBS: All Access (though I don’t know anyone who did). Now they’ve retooled it as Paramount PLU$…
They’re too late for me. Netflix did a good job offering all seasons of TV series, and adding a wide range of great movies and shows. So did Hulu. I’m not going to start paying another monthly fee for a whole new network that doesn’t seem as well run as the older services.
If you want to catch up on a series check your local library. As an example, mine has 17 seasons of NCIS on DVD, and I’m sure they’ll get 18 as soon as it’s available. All of which I can watch for free.
Streaming is great in some ways, but I think people sometimes forget it’s not the only option.
Paramount+ isn’t great with original shows yet. They have a few Star Treks, Why Women Kill, and the Good Fight (which is excellent, btw). They are, however, becoming a very good service if one is a soccer fan.
