Avengers: Infinity War
The Avengers
Doctor Strange
Guardians of the Galaxy
Avengers: Age of Ultron

LEAST FAVORITE (in descending order):

Spider-Man: Homecoming
Captain America: The Winter Soldier
The Incredible Hulk
Thor: The Dark World
Avengers: Endgame

Haven’t seen Spiderman: Far from Home or Black Widow (or Daredevil).

I have not liked any Spider-Man movie, though I’ve only seen maybe 15-20 minutes of Spider-Man: Into the Spiderverse. I was not caring for it when something interrupted.

I guess X-Men movies don’t count…at least, not yet.

I know it wasn’t the whole movie but it really put me off for the rest of it.

Tops for me is the first Avengers, hands down. The dialogue, the banter, the way Whedon works the solo-movie characters together without losing their individual characters was brilliant.

Others in the top for me are all three Captain Americas, the first Guardians of the Galaxy and Infinity War

Bottoms for me are Incredible Hulk, Iron Man 2 and 3, Thor 2 and Guardians 2.

Watching superhero movies on TV, I look over at the wife and say “Annnnd, Fight Scene.” as I fast forward through it. Since she’s barely watching, she just rolls her eyes.

By the way, I was making a list and rereading the thread, I realized I’d completely forgotten Civil War.

The best thing I can say for it is that it’s the reason for Paul Rudd’s ankle bracelet when he’s playing “Home Roller Coaster” with his daughter in AM&tW…

Daredevil, the Ben Affleck movie, was pre-MCU, and was not a Marvel Studios production. Daredevil, the Netflix series, was supposed to be kinda-sorta in continuity with the MCU, but it’s since been de-canonized.

That wasn’t an MCU movie, either. It’s one of my personal all-time favorite super-hero movies, though.

My list (in no particular order within each tier):

TIER ONE - Pinnacle
Captain America: The First Avenger
The Avengers
Iron Man

TIER TWO - Really Good
Guardians of the Galaxy
Avengers: Age of Ultron
Spider-Man: Homecoming
Thor: Ragnarok

TIER THREE - Flawed But Enjoyable
Iron Man 2
Doctor Strange
Ant-Man
Ant-Man and the Wasp
Spider-Man: Far From Home
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2

TIER FOUR - Passable
Iron Man 3
Black Widow
Captain Marvel
Avengers: Infinity War
Avengers: Endgame
Captain America: The Winter Soldier
Captain America: Civil War

TIER FIVE - Bad
Thor
Thor 2: The Dark World
The Incredible Hulk

To be fair, any scene between Paul Rudd and his daughter, in either of the Ant Man movies, was solid gold, and I’m all for justifying more of them.

I don’t actively dislike any of the MCU movies although I would say some of them had less impact than others. But the worst movie is the one that never happened: Inhumans. It was supposed to be an MCU film but was banished to Marvel Entertainment and they made the worst thing in recent history with the word Marvel on it. It was a humorless show with a lead character who couldn’t talk and a very non-sympathetic set of “heroes” who were trying to maintain their slave society. There was a dude from Game of Thrones in it so I guess the writers thought that he would bring that GoT awesomeness with him and forgot that it doesn’t actually work that way.

Case in point for how bad this show was: at one point the heroes get involved with some bad dudes who are growing weed in the jungle. Eventually there is a conflict and a gigantic pile of cheeba gets lit on fire… and none of the characters are standing downwind from it! The Inhumans are a closed society from the Moon so they’re very much fish-out-of-water in Hawaii. There was comedy gold potential in getting them all stoned and they completely whiffed it. Shameful display.

Since I’m bored, I rated them all except for Black Widow using the SABCDF tiers that’s so common in these types of rankings. Order in each tier is by release date. I’ve only seen Black Widow once, which why I didn’t include it, but it’s probably at least C-Tier though definitely not S-Tier.

S Tier

Guardians of the Galaxy
Ant-Man
Doctor Strange
Thor: Ragnarok
Avengers: Infinity War

A Tier

Iron Man
The Avengers
Captain America: The Winter Soldier
Captain America: Civil War
Spider-Man: Homecoming

B Tier

Captain America: The First Avenger
Ant-Man and the Wasp
Avengers: Endgame
Spider-Man: Far From Home

C Tier

Iron Man 3
Avengers: Age of Ultron
Thor
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2
Black Panther

D Tier

Iron Man 2
Thor: The Dark World
Captain Marvel

F Tier

The Incredible Hulk

I agree with all this: Inhumans had all sorts of potential with the political intrigue and their powers and their giant teleporting dog and adjusting to life on Earth…and then we got a couple of episodes about growing pot in Hawaii. WT actual F. So pointless.

We’ve recently rewatched all the movies available on Disney+, usually one per weekend, so the movies are fairly fresh in my mind. I’m not going to bother ordering within a tier.

Great Tier (well worth watching again for any reason)
Iron Man
Thor
Captain America: The First Avenger
The Avengers
Guardians of the Galaxy
Doctor Strange
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2
Black Panther
Captain Marvel

Good Tier (worth watching as part of a series)
Iron Man 2
Avengers: Age of Ultron
Ant-Man
Thor: Ragnarok
Avengers: Infinity War
Ant-Man and the Wasp
Avengers: Endgame

Okay Tier (worth watching once)
Iron Man 3
Thor: The Dark World
Captain America: The Winter Soldier
Captain America: Civil War
Black Widow

Poor Tier (not worth watching)

I don’t think any of these movies merit my Poor tier.

I’ll separate into “Movies I’d actually use the remote to navigate to start” and “Movies I’d turn off if I came across the running”.

Would Start Up
Iron Man
Avengers
Civil War
Ant-Man
Guardians of the Galaxy
Thor: Ragnarok
Spider-Man: Homecoming

Would Turn Off
Captain Marvel
Age of Ultron
Iron Man 3
Thor 2: Dark World
Incredible Hulk

Everything else falls into a middle-ground of “Would watch it if I came across it but wouldn’t be my choice if I wanted to watch a superhero movie”. Even the turn-off movies have a moment or two and aren’t the worst thing on film but, having seen them once for the story, none are worth watching again for the experience.

I notice that two of my top choices (Iron Man, Avengers) came pretty early and set a good tone for what an action superhero should be and four (AM, SM:HC, T:R, GotG) are just “fun”, featuring heroes who seem to actually enjoy being superheroes and thinking “Woah, this is awesome!” rather than “Woe unto me for this heavy burden I must carry…”. And Civil War has some great Spider-Man and Ant-Man scenes plus some fun action. I actually liked the big obvious superhero brawl that people like to complain about. Of course it was ridiculous and telegraphed and “made for film” but it was still fun.

Top favourites:
Captain Marvel
Black Panther
Thor:Ragnarok
Spider-Man : Into The Spiderverse if that counts

Least Favourites:
Incredible Hulk
Iron Man II
Thor: The Dark World
