What are your favorite military charities?

We’ve been trying to find a good charity (preferably something related to Vietnam vets and/or Marines). Charity Navigator comes up with a low-stars rating for nearly every single one, or else they aren’t listed at all under the standard charity guidelines that Charity Navigator uses.

So…anyone out there with some good Marine/Vietnam charities? Tell me about 'em (and provide links if you have 'em). Thank you!

How about the Fisher House Foundation? Four stars at Charity Navigator.

I like it but my husband wants to do something else. He doesn’t see it as directly affecting the vets (I know…I know). I need something more physically/monetarily/veteran-direct.

OK. The Disabled American Veterans Charitable Service Trust also has four stars.

Wounded Warriorsand the good ole USO. Believe me, we in the military love those two.

Great! I always think of the DAV as a “stuff” charity. This is definitely a contender for our dollar contributions.

Any others youze Dopers can recommend?

Military OneSource is a great military charity but I don’t know if it helps Vietnam-era vets. It does do great things for active duty of all branches.

The Marines have been affiliated with Toys for Tots for years - and while it isn’t a veterans charity it is probably worth considering in your giving.

Yeah, we’ve been doing this one for years.
