Think back — while not a recording, National Lampoon parodied the Beatles with Sgt. Shriver’s Bleeding Hearts Club Band. All the lyrics are on the “back” of the “album,” just like Sgt. Pepper’s,” so get off your butt and do your own parody album… in your mind!

Does Tom Lehrer count? I thought most of his music was original (except The Elements) and so wouldn’t qualify by the definition of parody.

Julie Brown also did a 90-minute TV special as “Medusa,” satirizing mid-1980s Madonna, parodying her songs, her off-again, on-again relationship with Sean Penn, etc. It was pretty good.
