What are your favorite songs that begin with the letter H and were released on or after January 1, 2000? See rules in OP (FINAL POLL ADDED)

RULES:

Submissions must begin with the letter H. Exclude articles such as “a”, “an”, “the”, etc. that begin the title. Example: “The Hokey Pokey” belongs in the H poll, not the T poll.

Songs must have been first released on or after January 1, 2000.

IMPORTANT: You must include the year of release with each submission. Entries that do not will be excluded.

No cover songs allowed, unless the original was released on or after 1/1/2000.

I humbly ask for everyone’s assistance in ensuring that we all adhere to these rules. Please politely point out any questionable entries.

Submissions are limited to 5 per person. Please do not post title suggestions or comments on alternative titles. This takes a little of the fun out of the process. It is ok, after the polls are posted, to name titles that have been overlooked.

If you edit your already-posted entry to make a change, I may not see it. Please do not edit your posted list or re-post your entire list – this gets confusing - just add a new post with changes or additions only. EXAMPLE: Remove “A Day in the Life” and add “Daddy Don’t You Walk So Fast.”

You are allowed to make changes to your entries (see previous paragraph) up until the time that the first polls are posted.

You must include the artist (not the composer, unless they are the same person) or your submission will not be counted.

Polls will appear in this thread once submissions begin to wind down.

Classical releases are excluded.

Final poll, also in this thread, will narrow the field to 10-ish.

(ETA: considering what a hard time I had with G, this was a romp. And five gems as well. Great.)

Quite a peppy selection:

Hartlepool - Boothby Graffoe (2010, although the link is to a 2021 remix). Based on a true-ish story involving a monkey and the Napoleonic Wars.

Hayloft - Mother Mother (2008)

He Makes You Look Fat - Nick Helms (2011)

Hotel Yorba - The White Stripes (2001)

Hot Knife - Fiona Apple (2012)

Hurt - Arlo Parks, 2021
Honest Face - Liam Finn & Eliza Jane, 2009
Hash Pipe - Weezer, 2001

Hands to Myself- Selena Gomez (2015)

Havana- Camila Cabelollo (2017)
Hey There Delilah- Plain White Ts (2005)

Man, I had a full five, but had two snatched up while I was finishing up my post. Will come back…

I just can’t shake the feeling we’re missing something that I can’t quite picture.

Hey Little Rich Girl - 2013 - Amy Winehouse
Happy - 2011 - Pharrell Willimans Clap along!

Holiday - Green Day (2004)
Highway Tune- Greta Van Fleet (2017)

“H” has more potential submissions on my list than the previous letters did. I will need to assemble a blue-ribbon panel to narrow my list down to five, so it may take up to 24 hours before my list of five songs appears.

Helicopter – Bloc Party (2005)
Hey Ya! – Outkast (2003)
Higher – Carly Rae Jepsen (2016)
Hope the High Road – Jason Isbell and the 400 Unit (2017)
House That Heaven Buit, The – Japandroids (2012)

Hunter - Dido (2001)
Here with Me - Dido (2001)

er, Rufus T. Firefly beat you to that one:

mmm

Also beat him to “Holiday” by Green Day.

Dagburnit, Rufus!

Alrighty, back to the drawing board for my final two.
