RYM??

mmm

Rrrgghhh x2, one of my main music haunts, durned dyslexia…

Ah, got it, no problemo.

mmm

Just call it stuff that used to be on the radio back when any of us actually listened to the radio. It’s the last time there was actually any kind of consensus about what the best songs are. Everything else is too niche to get more than one or two votes.

Exactly. There are a lot of songs I could post that no one has ever heard of (and indeed did in the Q/V/X/Z poll). They get no votes, and even if I post links they get few clicks. So I’m more likely to pick the mainstream hits more people already know.

I mean, if I nominate “You’re The Cream In My Coffee” by Ted Weems, “You’ll Have Time” by William Shatner or “The Yeoman of England” by William McAlpine, who cares about those (well, maybe the Shatner one - it’s hilarious and dark).

I sussed out the trend in “winning” songs early, but decided I was going to post my true favorites, the songs that I will always put on repeat if they come up, the ones that make me turn up the volume when they come on. I’m just happy when I get more than just my vote in the initial polls.

I think the results would be different if the 10/5/3 votes you are given in the polls could be distributed to only a few songs if you wanted. This would not only measure the general popularity of a song, but also the passion. In the initial polls, I always select 10 songs, but once I’m past my favorites, I’m sometimes picking songs I don’t turn off or skip past if they come up. Pity that Discourse doesn’t allow this type of voting in polls.

You weren’t lying. “You’ll Have Time” is hilarious.

Same.

Right. And sure there some great stuff, but none of the other stuff had legs- it didn’t last.

So you have a great Progressive rock tune. Fine. It played and was popular for a few months- tops.

Good luck today in the Pokal!

Thanks! There’s quite a good chance for wining the cup this season since Bayern and Leipzig are already out.
