What are your favorite vigilante/revenge movies?

I Love the line from Death Wish 2.

Bronson: upon seeing a cross around the neck of a hood, “do you believe in Jesus?”

Hood: “Yes I do”

Bronson: “Well, your going to meet him.”

Freeway. (Kiefer Sutherland, Reese Witherspoon) Sort of a violent, sharp retelling of Little Red Riding Hood, if Red was a semi-illiterate prostitute’s daughter and the wolf was a serial killer.

Revenge Kevin Costner

***Enough***,with Jennifer Lopez.

Boondock Saints.

No no, the first Punisher was better.

Nothing says revenge like Dolph Lundgren, sitting naked in a sewer with a voiceover talking about how God hadn’t answered his question so he’ll still keep punishing the guilty.

Trading Places is a good one if you prefer comedy to shoot 'em ups.** The Shawshank Redemption** is also most triumphant.

The Punisher (2004). It’s not good, but it’s certainly entertaining.

I have no revenge movies to recommend, unless someone has the good sense to make movies out of Vacchs’s Burke novels.

Good call on that one.

Mad Max had some nice revenge qualities.

I haven’t seen Hard Candy, but I’ve heard good things.

I did like Slevin and Kill Bill and Count of Monte Cristo. I guess Ocean’s Eleven sort of counts. I tend to prefer the clever machinations type of revenge film over the angsty violent ones. I think there are some key ones of this time I am failing to remember at the moment. Revenge is definitely a dish best served cold.

Just finished Man On Fire. WOW! That’s pretty powerful. Thanks for the suggestion.
