I’m also a big fan of using folders and the “Links/Favorites” row of bookmarks in my browser. My bookmarks vary between my work computer and my home laptop, as does my homepage: at work it’s my iGoogle page, at home it’s Yahoo Mail (which I can’t access from work). My browser varies, too: at home I’m strictly Firefox, but at work my only option is IE.
Here’s what I have for “Links” at work (from left to right):[ul][li]Northwest Federal Credit Union[/li][li]Tower Federal Credit Union[/li][li]LM (folder of workplace links)[/li][li]SDMB[/li][li]Blogs (folder of links to friends’ blogs and LiveJournals)[/li][li]Daily (folder of sites that I look at every day)[/li][li]My Washington Post[/li][li]Netflix[/li][li]CNN[/li][li]GMU (folder of grad school links)[/li][li]Nats (folder of Washington Nationals links)[/li][li]Web (folder of online tools)[/li][*]Friday Night Live[/ul]
I hate you. More to the point, my boss and customers probably really hate you.
And I hate the fact that I pick 27 for the number of Yankees’ World Championships every single time, even though it’s wrong…
XKCD (my favorite webcomic)
Delta Sig Products (I’m a member of this fraternity)
Pi Kappa Products (My dad was a member of this in college, so father’s day/birthday presents come from here) Peep Research (I am a nerd)
Contacts/Jobs at Brown Publishing (I’m a senior in an English program. Newspapers are my friend)
Ohio Newspaper Network Jobs Instructables : Build a Boat
University of Alabama: MLS program application page Thinkgeek.com
That’s all the bookmarks I have…in other words, I feel like a nerd…
heh…
This is just mine at work - at home hubby joins in and we have way too many folders to list, much less bookmarks. I’m only listing the first one in each, and they’re mostly alphabetical…
bank Bank of America website media American Idol message boards SDMB personal Photobucket recipes All Recipes reference Click2Houston weather - local weather site work-related McMaster-Carr
I don’t use folders, but I keep everything alphabetical. Just press the first letter of the entry, and you jump to that section; no need to scroll endlessly.
But since I’m alphabetical, that doesn’t reflect my top 10.
I just use a limited number of quickbar bookmarks, with a few folders shoved on the quickbar, too. In order:
Straight Dope Message Board*
Livejournal*
Penny Arcade*
Weather Channel (set to the current “hour-by-hour” display)*
Gmail
TV listings (Yahoo)**
TV listings (Zap2It)**
Netflix Traffic.com Ultimateguitar.com (song tabs/chords)
These four also come up tabbed as my “home page” when I launch the browser.
** I keep Yahoo, though vastly inferior, because it can sync with my Tivo if I see something I want to record. Zap2It (until it goes away in September is the preferred site for viewing.
The first links are currently the first pages I visit every day. They’re in a folder, so I just click on the folder to open them all (Firefox). Most of them I just take a quick look at and close. The cicada map and the cams and related pages will be removed soon.
