Side note:
My girlfriend and I were watching another crummy horror movie when suddenly she pointed out that one of the actresses was from - … I recognized the actress vaguely, and then it started to come back to me - she was what’s-her-name in what’s that show… what was it again… Oh yeah, “Raising Hope”! We had watched the complete run of it (to the time at least, I don’t know if it’s still on) and remembered absolutely nothing of it. Finally we remembered that the chick played Sabrina in the show, but other than that we were very weak on the details. It was like we began to recall memories of a fugue state or something.

  1. Scrubs
  2. Seinfeld
  3. Frasier
  4. Roseanne
  5. The Wonder Years

HM: Archer, Blackadder

Another great one I’d forgotten.

Yeah, one thing I noticed re-watching some episodes: if they were Les-centric, I was in for disappointment. He was quite unlikeable. I can’t remember now how quickly he turned that way, but he did end up that way. Even Herb was a decent-enough guy in his own way if you dug down far enough, and more importantly, he was funny, not annoying.

I notice “Raising Hope” isn’t on your list. I hope you’re at least watching it. It was created by the same guy who did “Earl”, and he often has the Earl cast guest-star.

30 Rock
Scrubs
Family Guy
Community
dunno

I’ve never liked Sanford & Son, and I never watched Odd Couple before I entered my 40s. But watching Barney Miller as an adult – particularly during the Dietrich years – I’m amazed at how hiliarious it is, at how well it used its minimalist set. And WKRP is just as funny as I remember it.

That said, my answer to the thread question, in no particular order:

MAS*H
Gilmore Girls
Will & Grace
Cheers
Scrubs

I might be giving it bonus points because in the back of my mind is a voice shouting “OH WHAT COULD HAVE BEEN!”

Simpsons
Friends
News Radio
Cheers
Seinfeld

In no order:

The Dick Van Dyke Show
The Mary Tyler Moore Show
Barney Miller
Night Court
The 60s Batman TV Show.

Men Behaving Badly
The Office
The Middle
Love, American Style
Bewitched

  1. WKRP in Cincinnati
  2. The Young Ones
  3. Barney Miller
  4. Night Court
  5. Green Acres

The same goes for the episode where Arthur’s wife finds out she’s pregnant. At the end, “The Big Guy” is talking with Venus, who has no clue of the blessed event and takes Arthur’s comments out of context. Finally, Arthur asks for Venus to play a request. The original request is “Thank Heaven for Little Girls” which makes the joke and leaves Venus staring dumbfounded at the turntable as it plays. The post-rights version was some other song that made no sense at all and didn’t play to Venus’ reaction.

Will & Grace
Cheers
Soap
Happy Days [I never though the laugh-track was beneficial]
Barney Miller

I don’t think they actually ran during the same years, but I always thought a Barney Miller/Night Court pairing would be good on a classic/rerun TV station. It would be as close as we could get to a comedy Law & Order.

I kind thought Taxi and Cheers should have been back-to-back since the cabbies would often go to a bar after work and we’d see scenes there. Different towns, though.
