What are your plot idea for black mirror

I love this show, it is probably the best sci fi/horror TV series I’ve seen. They only did 6 episodes and the christmas special but netflix ordered 12 episodes that should be released in 2016 which means that sometime in 2016 I will be taking a day off work to binge watch it.

Having said that, what are some plot ideas people could think of for this show? I’m sure they already have plots worked out, but if you had to come up with a plot outline for the show which shows the dystopian side of near future technocracies what would they be?

-A permanent majority government in a democracy uses a complex system of neuroscience and psychology tricks to get the public to vote when/how they want by manipulating their wants and needs. They do what they want, and then screw with people’s opinions and emotions enough in the weeks leading up to election day to get 51% of the vote every 4 years.

-Humans attain immortality, only to find eternal life highly meaningless, but not meaningless enough to overcome the fear of death and commit suicide.

-A new party drug allows people to see the hidden unhappy side in people’s personalities, turns out it is all a stealth attempt by marketers to uncover people’s deepest vulnerabilities to allow them to discover better ways to sell personal care products.

-A new anti-depressant that cures the pain of shame and loneliness is invented, and soon nobody cares enough to take care of their family or go to work.

-A North Korean type dictatorship passes a law implementing a mandatory neurosurgery on the underclass to give them a sense of joy and ecstasy from being a servile, passive slave class.

-Cognitive enhancement becomes a thing, but people who have the operation performed end up enslaved to their baser animal instincts as a side effect of the implant. As a result the tiny minority of first adopters who get the surgery to become super smart use their higher IQ to commit thefts and rapes and find ways to avoid being caught.

-Robot nannies who look just like normal people become common, the parents become so disinterested in their kids that when a child accidentally dies the robots create a robot child to replace the dead kid and the parents don’t even know it.

-A digital afterlife is created so when people’s bodies die their consciousness can live on, but the quality of your afterlife (which can range from purgatory to blissful heaven) depends on how much money your descendants give each year to the company.

My ideas aren’t that great, but I like the series enough that I wonder what they will come up with for the new episodes.

-Despite crime rates being at an all time low, a bloated and largely useless national law enforcement organization lobbies the government to create more and more laws criminalizing more and more of daily life, while also drastically increasing surveillance to justify the bloated number of police officers and give them something to do.

-People convicted of violent crimes have a device installed into the punishment centers of the brain, and a button is given to their victim. Any time the victim feels resentful they can push the button and cause feelings of terror and suffering in the convicted criminal.

-Advances in bioengineering allow people to eliminate all socially undesirable traits. Too short, too fat, too weird, too loud, too quiet, too ugly, etc all disappear. People start to become boring and unenlightened because they are never forced to develop a personality that is not in sync with popular culture.

But we already have Gattaca… and it’s not all that great to begin with.

I’d probably do something really snarky and include some dehumanizing, viscerally unsettling program and practice…that, in the end, is proven to be not only reasonable in planning and execution, but was the best—and perhaps the only—possible solution to some intractable malady of the human condition. “Earth abides, life will go on…and ‘humanity’ is a thing to be overcome.”

(Eh, maybe I’m just getting grumpier in my old age. Or maybe it’s just that I never liked caveman science fiction.)

So- Black Mirror mostly deals with the subject of the effects of a fifteen minutes in the future type of mass communication. How about a parody of, say, Uber.

Like, there’s this app that will allow you to call non-professional, let’s say, instead of cabs, cops. And they end up fighting real cops. Or something. There’s the germ of an idea there.

Charlie Brooker, is that you? You’re not getting my stories that easily!

-Adam Sandler is like, in love with some girl, but then it turns out that the girl is actually a golden retriever, or something.

Sounds like the mexican drug war.

DocWagon? “No waiting lists, zero copay, and aerial gunship support for every emergency call…guaranteed!”

The show is great, but every episode produced so far sounds lame in a one or two sentence plot synopsis.

Something like Video ‘likes’ becoming currency sounds lame, but there are all kinds of twisted roads you could go down if corporations adjusted the laws to not abide for criminals if a certain benchmark of views of their videos were directed at products they sponsor.

-Health insurance costs are so high the only possible way for most to afford it is by getting a ‘tattler discount’. The implant will monitor the health of the policy holder, increasing the deductible or dropping them altogether for unsafe activity like eating junk food, driving fast, going to certain neighborhoods, unsafe sex, viewing unapproved journalism.
