I have a feeling that you’re probably right about this one. I’m not sure that we will ever return to the Moon, and Mars? Not in our lifetimes, and probably not ever.
That’s actually pretty cool. I didn’t know that someone had actually gone and started a Shipstone Company. I wonder if the inspiration is the same.

The US has plans to go back to the Moon this decade, and even if we drop the ball both China and Russia (individually or together) are already working up their own program to go there in the 2030’s…so I guess it depends on how long you think you will live. This leaves aside what the private companies are planning. I know SpaceX is still saying they will do an Apollo 8 mission around the moon sometime in the next year or so and still plans to do their own Moon landing at some point.
I think the ESA also has plans for a Moon research base in this decade, though not sure how they plan to get there.
NASA, Russia, and China also have plans for a Mars shot in the 2030’s, though that seems more nebulous at this stage. But the Moon? I expect someone to go back with a manned mission before I shuffle off this mortal coil in the next 20 years or so.
Chances are, someone will revive this zombie thread in the years to come and prove us wrong, one way or another.
