What are your "Well....yeah" political stances?

You want completely open borders? Might as well not have countries, then! Well…yeah?

You want a UBI? But then people won’t be forced to work shitty jobs for less than a living wage in order to desperately try to not become homeless.

Well… yeah!

I don’t think the Church of England (or any church) should have any special privilege in the UK.

“that means the dissolution of the church” well yeah.

ETA - that should read “disestablishment of the church”

I guess that means you oppose antidisestablishmentarians.

In a similar vein, I think all tax breaks for US churches should end. If that means a bunch of them are no longer viable and have to close… well, yeah.

ETA: I was just making a joke about the amusingly long word “antidisestablishmentarianism”. But upon further research, that word *specifically *refers to a political movement opposing the disestablishment of the Church of England. So in fact the comment is completely relevant.

Not exactly political but when talking about a movie or TV show or book and someone says, “That’s not historically correct.”

“Well, yeah. Why does it have to be?”

On one particular issue near and dear:

“If Puerto Rico becomes a state…”

“…people will have to pay IRS income taxes.” Well… yeah, those who make past the threshold taxable income.

“…we won’t be able to attract businesses by being a Tax Haven.” Well… yeah. Figure how the other 50 do it.

“…we may after a while no longer be able to have a separate Olympic Team…” Well… yeah. Though we may get one or two cycles’ worth of transition.

“…or Miss Universe contestant!” Well … that’s a stupid objection, dude.

I think many D’s, if told, “You consider Trump voters to be ignorant, inferior and uneducated rubes who voted against their own interests,” would say…“well, yeah…”

A brave stance in the USA I’m sure, mine regarding the C of E is far less controversial and exciting I’m afraid.

You are quite right and I wasn’t thinking about it when I wrote it but indeed it was obviously once an important enough stance to have a word coined for it.

That victorian-dad come to life that is Jacob Rees-Mogg MP has a little claim to fame as the person using the longest word ever in Parliament.
Not the one you mentioned but fun nonetheless and I’m sure the other one is definitely in his wheel-house
