I think the title explains my pretty question pretty well. What bands aren’t considered one-hit wonders, but you only like one of their songs?
I like Aerosmith’s “Dream On” but the rest just nauseates me.

The Eagles - Hotel California
Loggins & Messina: “Angry Eyes”
I might second the Eagles, except their one good song is “Already Gone.”
Madonna - La Isla Bonita
AC/DC - You Shook Me All Night Long
Blues Traveler - Hook
It’s pretty absurd to me how much better this song is than the rest of their catalogue (or at least the 3 albums I’ve tried listening to). Yes I include their other hit “Run Around” among the far trailing also-rans.
Barry Manilow – Copacabana.
Nirvana-Smells Like Teen Spirit.
I think we can close the thread now.
Don’t bother coming to Australia!
Although an argument could be raised if we did not include the back catalogue when Bon was the man.
Adele “Rolling in the Deep”
Jane’s Addiction “Jane Says”
I’m sure I’ll think of more later in the week.
I have a friend who is literally, seriously convinced that Jane’s Addiction is the most important band in the history of ALL recorded music, and she loathes that song more than pediatric AIDS, global human trafficking & boxed blush wine combined…
(It’s by far my favorite JA song)
The Cure: Friday I’m In Love.
And not Bermuda Triangle?
NOW we can!
Well, I disagree with just about every suggestion in this thread (not all for the same reasons), but this thread topic is ripe for this sort of thing.
This is a tough question. The immediate ones that pop to mind for me are “Summer of '69” by Brian Adams and “More Than Words” by Extreme. Yeah, I’m really dating myself, aren’t I? I know there’s a lot more bands out there that I dislike but have one song I enjoy, but I just can’t bring them to mind right now.
Aerosmith - Dream O… curse you, OP!
So you guys picked two bands who are sometimes criticized because all their songs sound similar (whether one thinks it’s a good thing or not), and then say that one song out of their many not-so-good songs is a good song because it sounds totally different?
BTW, for me it’s “For Those About to Rock.” “Big Balls” a second for the lulz.
I didn’t say You Shook Me All Night Long is a good song because it sounds totally different, I just like it. Their other stuff, not so much. I’m not sure I can even say why.
I can fake it!
Wow. There is a ton of stuff I could post here if I bothered to sort through my 500 or so CDs, but it’s too painful. However there is no way I could ever include any part of “Back in Black”, given that when it is played on any stereo with enough power every track rocks.
Give me a couple of days to look through my stuff and I’ll find plenty of stinkers though.
I’ll probably think of more as soon as I post this but:
The Who- Baba O’Riley
Coldplay - *Viva la Vida
Pointer Sisters - We Are Fa mil lee
