What book are you reading now?

phouka - I finished The Three Musketeers (yet again) recently too! It is one of my favorite books - full of witty repartée.

Oh! Eco is GOOD. This book, and Foucault’s Pendulum, and Misreadings which is a collection of parodies. But The Island of the Day Before is one of the few novels I’ve never finished…

``You’re just an empty cage girl if you kill the bird.’’ – Tori Amos.

About time someone started this thread again!

“Guns, Germs and Steel”, based on everyone’s recommendations from the last time we did this (thanks)

“The Hollow” by Todd Hayes (because he’s on one of my one-list groups and he’s funny)

“Veil’s Visit: A Taste of Hap and Leonard”, by Joe Lansdale, cuz I’ve read all the Lansdale I can find and this’ll tide me over till the two new books come out

Waiting patiently for the next book in George R. R. Martin’s fantasy series – last I heard, it’s set for publication this fall.

Re-reading ‘Jurrasic Park’. But then, I have no taste.

The Mad Ship by Robin Hobb, who will be in town this week (under her real name of Megan Lindholm)

Plan to buy the next Harry Potter book, the new Terry Goodkind book Soul of the Fire and if what you all are saying is true, the new Discworld book, Fifth Elephant.

Innocents Abroad by Mark Twain.

Little Nemo - Thanks for the suggestion! I love the book section at Sam’s and I shall keep a look out for Mammoth Book of Battles.

I finished, not so long ago, the first horror book I’ve ever read. It wasn’t that scary.
Eaters of the Dead I liked it and the movie that was based on it The 13th Warrior.

These threads go on for long enough, and I’m on to new books already!

I’m now reading House of Invention: The Secret Life of Everyday Products by David Lindsay.

I’m listening to Myth Conceptions, by Robert Aspirin on tape (yeah, I know, I’m going backwards from the last one, but I’ve read them all before anyway so I remember the general gist of what’s going on).

Next up for reading (unless I get something I like better) is The Energy of Life: The Science of What Makes Our Minds and Bodies Work, by Guy Brown, Ph.D.

Next up on tape is Dinosaur in a Haystack, by Stephen Jay Gould. After that is a book about Feynman, but I can’t remember the title.

I’m reading the sequel to The Sparrow by Mary Doria Russell, called Children of God. Sci Fi fans, The Sparrow is a must-read! Even my female-author-hating husband is enjoying it!

Our next book club book is The Talented Mr. Ripley… haven’t heard too many good things about it.

A co-worker loves Pratchett’s Discworld series so I’m reading the first one, The Color of Magic… not impressed so far.
