In one of the Bond novels (From Russia with Love?) the evil Russian spy lady kicks Bond with her poisoned knife-shoe at the end of the book, and the last scene has Bond lying on the floor, dying of poison.
This isn’t mentioned in the next book, by the way.

Actually, the JPF(or the PFJ) did send the elite suicide squad to help, and they performed their duty quite well(not that it was any help to brian).
FYI: Being a skinhead isn’t the same thing as being a racist or anti-semitic. There are plenty of skinheads who are not racist or anti-semites.

Only the re-make, though. In the original, a man escapes to another town, and tries to warn the people there, who presumably haven’t had their bodies snatched yet. The outcome is left up in the air.
Disagree. I think it’s made pretty clear at the end of the original that the situation is hopeless. No one can go without sleep forever, and the pods are being transported across the country.
Not to mention that he turns up at the start of the remake, still screaming about aliens and not being believed.
