I don’t know why I need to know this, but I do. It’s been eating at me for months now. I’ve scoured the web looking, and no luck. hopefully someone out there either knows or can guide me to the right source. thanks
from here:
This is what I’ve heard.
On the other hand, someone might know what brand of golf balls Shepard liked at the time. There’s no way of knowing which he used on the Moon, of course; but to me it would seem likely that he would have used the same balls he favoured at the time.
Top Flite?
Actually, he played a Slazenger One - but Edgar Mitchell switched it for a Seven at the 17th hole.
i could have just thrown out random golf companies…does anyone out there have any real proof or idea of who would know? how to contact NASA, maybe? I don’t know
Well, if this
is true, only Alan Shepard would. Sadly, he’s no longer with us.
The only sure-fire solution I can see is to go looking for them. I’d volunteer.
As a matter of fact, there was an article about it in the Philadelphia Inquirer a few weeks ago since we just passed the 35th anniversary of the flight.
The astronauts were allowed to bring along small PPKs (Personal Preference Kits) which contained personal items and souvenirs. They didn’t need to get approval or show anyone the particular items they were bringing, so there’s no reason to think anyone at NASA actually saw them. Ed Mitchell, who accompanied him on the lunar landing, would have, but may not have seen them closely enough to tell the brand.
If Shepard had someone buy them for him (or seen him buy them), then they’d probably know, but if so they’ve kept their mouth shut.
WAG “Lunar Hi-Flyers!”
