What bug is this?

From my admittedly weak description. Found it in my house.

It’s about the size of the head of a pin. Oval boy shape. Black with white or grey stripes. I kind of crushed it in the killing process so I don’t have a picture or a good description of legs.

Any ideas?

A black ladybug?

Could it be one of the little guys on the right here?

Curious myself. Not matching any of the links. Mine were medium brown with white or off-white body marks. They were around for a few days, and now gone.

It sounds like an oat bug. I couldn’t find a picture. They’re tinny tiny beetles.
maybe someone else will find a picture

Sounds like a Carpet Beetle. There are many varieties of them and they are everywhere, just rarely noticed.

Jinkies, TwoTrouts, that looks pretty darn close? At least I now have something to compare it to. Thanks a bundle everybody.

When I saw “head of a pin” in the OP I immediately thought “carpet beetles.” I frequently see them or their icky-looking bristly brown larvae in my home.
