What Can Britain Teach America (plus vice versa, or any one country “teach” another)?

Revisiting this topic because I learned some things today. a) This is a relic of the 1970s oil/energy crisis; b) It’s, to no one’s surprise, appallingly dangerous, particularly to pedestrians; c) Washington, DC is considering banning it. D.C. moves to ban right turn on red.

The piece provides absolutely no data supporting its headline. I don’t trust people’s “instincts” about safety matters. So why do you say it’s “appallingly dangerous”?

I would like to protect pedestrians. In fact, among the things that I’d like the world to teach America (after it learns that universal healthcare is better and guns don’t make us safer or happier) is that pedestrian impact standards for cars save lives.
