What can I, personally, do to prevent torture?

Nahh, I’m easy with what order I accomplish them, end world hunger first then world peace second is OK, if I get what you are suggesting. Hold forth on your simple solution good soul.

Thanks for all the thoughtful and useful answers*.

I have written my congressman, who agrees with me anyway. I’m firmly ensconced in a blue state and my local media outlets are quite good about keeping the real issues on the front page.

To be more clear, I was particularly referring to the president of the land of the free and the home of the brave lobbying to be allowed to torture harder. He’s the one I have some power as an American to do something about, I like to think.

Thanks for recommending Amnesty International, **Ravenman ** and Thudlow Boink. Also thanks to **Miss Mossie ** for the SOA link.

If anyone hears about organized protests, I’m still very interested. Thanks. And I found quite a few anti-torture tee shirts on cafepress, if anyone else is looking.

*And no thanks to all of you who snarked. Zuma, if you read my public profile you’d see I am forty years old and a veteran. And I’m a college grad. Oh yeah, and if you used punctuation and capitalization, more people would read your message.
