What can you tell me about Dubuque?

My daughter is thinking of going there for a day trip by herself because she has nothing to do this weekend, and she has never been to Iowa. Is there anywhere she should avoid? Is there anything to do? She lives about two hours away in small town Illinois.

Um, it’s fucking awesome! How’s that for you?
The Mississippi River Museum is a can’t miss and if she likes parks and vistas the Eagle Point Park is really great. Downtown has shops and the 4th Street Elevator. Here’s a tourism site from the chamber of commerce: http://www.traveldubuque.com/

If she’s here on a Thursday, have her go to Stone Cliff Winery in the Star Brewery and bust out some Karaoke with me.

Dubuque is a great place to visit. 15 miles into Ill. is Galena, a wonderful tourist spot with a great winery. Pres. Grants home is also there.

Thank you! My daughter likes geocaching, so I know she will be wandering around and I just wanted to know what to expect. Only child - can you tell?

Galena tourist types when told how much we liked the town: “You know what’s great? Dubuque.”

And if you eat meat, beef deteriorates the further you get from Iowa. Best beef I ever ate was at a Chinese restaurant in a bowling alley on the west side of Galena. I was told it was shit compared with what you get in Dubuque.
